General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs "I haven't decided who I will vote for"?
Really "I am embarrassed to say I am voting for Trump"?
I mean, at this point, what more is there to see?

(10,883 posts)I live in a place surrounded by Trump voters. They all talk about how great he is. He must be ok for so many people I know to be for him, but I'm not really seeing it. But I'm just too damn busy with work and the kids to watch those FOX News shows everybody talks about. I'm hearing so many different things about Kamala I don't know where I would even start to find out who's right, even if I had the time. I don't know where I can find information I can trust.
Perhaps the person is kinda hopin' information comes their way without effort. And who knows? Maybe it will. Perhaps a personable pair of Harris canvassers braving a red district listening to their concerns, answering questions, and above all, not looking at them like they're an idiot for being ambivalent.
However, if no information comes their way that gives them a reason to vote for Harris, they probably don't bother voting or they go with the social consensus where they live and vote for Trump.

(26,076 posts)What I've seen as an election judge for years...
They don't bother to think or plan for any of the votes they will cast for any of their candidates because they share the same dog-eared mailer that they get from their pastor in the mail telling them who to vote for every election.
Though I have remarked that such sharing of political literature is electioneering and forbidden at a certain point in the voting area. I was told not to rock the boat by our chief judge.
And it infuriates me.
Any ideas? Except telling me to quit?

If so, I think you should report it.
Thank you for toughing it out all this time.

(26,076 posts)I'd have to report it anonymously, maybe. IDK. I don't want to be seen as a trouble maker.
I live in a small town and have a high profile. I want to maintain my bank of social capital that I've built up over the years. That's what helps me get things done.
I'm sure many know because it's been happening for years. That no one has ever done anything about it speaks volumes.
To me it's like the perpetuation of illiteracy. No one advances and more and more fall behind. It really needs to stop. But I feel helpless.

Maybe they're saying, "Mind your own business."

(1,578 posts)If you look at the polls in 2020 Bidens numbers were very close to what he actually received while Trumps final numbers were several points higher than what the polls predicted. Those undecideds broke heavily for Trump. I dont think they were undecided at all.

(10,330 posts)countless wives of Republicans, who truthfully don't know, until their Republican husband tells them exactly who to vote for......
A large number of those wives would say the exact same thing, almost like it is a Republican Male Talking Point, and that is:
"I take care of the house and kids, he takes care of the political stuff and the money... AND then, a number would say:
"I am not smart enough for the political stuff or doing the money stuff"...............

I'd be amazed if any of these "undecided" "independents" ever voted Blue, and it's astonishing that CNN keeps finding "undecided" "independents" to fill their focus groups and then, as a chorus, recite things like "I just don't think Harris has a plan, so I'm leaning toward Trump."

(2,221 posts)of not talking about issues. Just "don't whine about it, don't talk about it, just do it". There are some people who can tell you the favorite breakfast cereal of every member of their sportsball team, their shoe size, and their stats, but don't know, or want to know that payroll taxes fund Social Security, that Trump and Putin had meetings where nothing was recorded, that, even after adjusting the baseline from 1780 to 1850-1900, the climate is still at least 1.2°C warmer, or that undocumented immigrants have a lower crime rate than native born citizens.
Ignorance is one of the Achilles' heels of democracy, and there is a segment of the population which is genuinely, and proudly, ignorant.

(4,088 posts)To put [undecided voters] in perspective, I think of being on an airplane.
The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. Can I interest you in the chicken? she asks. Or would you prefer the platter of sh*t with bits of broken glass in it?
To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.

If they don't recognize the stark binary choice then they are stupid.
Alternatively, if they're hiding their vote for Trump, they're stupid.
Either way, they're idiots. Just like Trump.
