Trump hotels charged his Secret Service protectors 'exorbitant' rates

The amazing this is that Trump is making money from the Secret Service having to protect him at his various luxury resorts.

The Trump Organization appears to have overcharged the Secret Service for stays at Trump-owned properties by agents protecting the then-president. The charges exceeded the government's approved rate, according to the House Oversight Committee, which says Secret Service records show payments totaling over $1.4 million.

"The exorbitant rates charged to the Secret Service and agents' frequent stays at Trump-owned properties raise significant concerns about the former President's self-dealing and may have resulted in a taxpayer-funded windfall for former President Trump's struggling businesses," Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney wrote in a letter to Kimberly Cheatle, the service's director.

According to the documents, the Secret Service was charged as much as $1,185 per room per night, nearly five times the government rate, which is set by the General Services Administration.

Secret Service has paid rates as high as $650 a night for rooms at Trump’s properties

President Trump’s company charges the Secret Service for the rooms agents use while protecting him at his luxury properties — billing U.S. taxpayers at rates as high as $650 per night, according to federal records and people who have seen receipts.

Those charges, compiled here for the first time, show that Trump has an unprecedented — and largely hidden — business relationship with his own government. When Trump visits his clubs in Palm Beach, Fla., and Bedminster, N.J., the service needs space to post guards and store equipment.

Trump’s company says it charges only minimal fees. But Secret Service records do not show that.

At Trump’s Mar-a-Lago Club, the Secret Service was charged the $650 rate dozens of times in 2017, and a different rate, $396.15, dozens more times in 2018, according to documents from Trump’s visits.

And as commander in chief he force the Air Force into making pit stops at his shitty club not only charging them ridiculous amounts but having to gas up their planes at exorbent rates. It really gets me when some people say he’s a billionaire because he’s such a great businessman. He’s a grifting com man who has never turned a profit at any legitimate business.

If any Democrat did this, there would be bloody hellraising on the cover of the NYT and in the M$M!

Just more double standards and normalization of the orange criminal’s crimes.

6. Yep. And now they are proposing assigning even more agents for Trump to pocket more taxpayer money.

U.S. government should just buy a couple of condos nearby and let agents rotate in and out of their shifts.
