...and I totally agree with the fellow in the video: trying to be civil and understanding of these folks is a waste of time, but I will extend tolerance and that will be from a distance. Still, we shouldn't overlook there's a media infrastructure and political actors that helps these people come to their conclusions while also encouraging them to mistrust other sources.

That said, there's no acceptable mitigation for me to support any bigot. When I hear people say "Well, (some, most, many) of these people are actually decent, but misled, I can't buy that. Either some of the same darkness that exists within Donald Trump and JD Vance lives within you or, even worse, you're willing to ignore their blatant, dangerous, unconscionable racism and misogyny for the sake of their purporting to support some other policy you favor. Neither of those fall into the category of decency.
