Fortune: “Most investors who have at least $1 million in investable assets are planning to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris, per a new report from wealth manager UBS. The actual breakdown: 57% of the 971 U.S. investors UBS surveyed last month said they’re opting for Harris; 43% are planning on Trump.”

“And yet, those same investors say former President Donald Trump would actually be better for the economy—narrowly.”

Why on earth would the rich want to go with autocracy where they will face corruption and have to pay to play with those wealthier than them. They have gotten so successful with Democracy.

The part about narrow lead on economy!

My guess, the economy means tax rates to them.

During Dem admins the market perform 2x better than Repubs.
They are damn well aware, so if a person has 5 million invested does he or she want a 500k or 250k return? Obvious answer, but they would also like to save 50 to 75k on taxes. So, they want the bigger return AND the tax savings.

4. It's no surprise that millionaires in the "mere" single-digit millions would favor Harris

A million ain't what it used to be. The lower-end of millionaire is "just" upper middle class these days. They don't benefit from big tax cuts and deregulation the way super wealthy people do. Economic stability and a less corrupt system makes perfect sense as a better choice for such people.

Even some the super wealthy, were Trump to win, would likely be in for some nasty surprises. Whenever a totalitarian government takes over a lot of people who thought they'd be insiders become enemies of the regime they help create.

technically (if you count our work based retirement investments), my partner and I are millionaires. We certainly don't get any real benefits from Republican tax policies1

Biden won the majority of votes cast by those making less than $100k, while Trump won the majority of those making more than $100k.

The New Reality: Affluent Voters Have Swung Democratic

For decades, scholars have noted segments of college-educated, professional, or middle-class voters trending toward the Democratic Party. Ladd and Hadley (Reference Ladd and Hadley1975) began describing an “inversion of the New Deal class order” (233) as certain educated voters in professional jobs shifted their allegiance toward the Democratic Party. Edsall and Edsall (Reference Edsall and Edsall1992) made a similar argument, describing the polarization between Republican and Democratic agendas on “race, rights, and taxes,” drawing some educated, middle- and upper-middle income white voters toward the Democratic Party. But through the latter decades of the twentieth century, Republicans were still most often winning higher-educated and higher-income voters, on average.

Trump is way too unstable, threatening tariffs one week, threatening to pull government issued licenses and contracts the next week, then reversing course and change to attacking some other subset based upon whether Trump's personal enrichment demands have been met.

The wealthy areas of any state tend to be the most liberal.

The Republicans tend to be the party of the poor and uneducated masses.
