If so, what an absolute idiotic statement?
He claimed Helene was worse than Katrina?
Dont get me wrong, but any hurricane is bad! Helene was a horrible storm & caused major damage with devastating results in loss of life, but Katrina was worse in a way were thousands of lives were lost. The only reason reason Trump brought it up was because he thinks that he could have responded to the crisis better than Bush did with Katrina and Biden did with Helene. Yet Trump thought by throw paper towel to people could clean up the mess QUICKLIER?
What arrogance he has? No matter the crisis each of them are different in location, landscape and environment!
So STFU Donnie!

(785 posts)It's early days. Expect the death toll from Helene to be in the thousands, as it was in Katrina. Whole families will have been wiped out.

Helene affected several states. The thing about Hurricane Helene in Georgia is that we didn't think it would be that bad for those of us who were further inland. When I saw the path, I figured it would be like the other rare tropical storms that came through the Atlanta metro area. There were a lot of issues in some parts of Atlanta due to flooding, but Helene pivoted very harshly towards the east coast and really fucked up some people who were not expecting it to be in their area at all, particularly Augusta, Georgia.
We work with several offices throughout Georgia and there are still some people in Augusta who do not have power and it's been over a week. Some of our employees were trapped in their neighborhoods due to trees blocking them in.
When I think about Katrina, I remember thousands of people drowning or trapped on rooftops due to flooding caused by levees failing/breaking. Unless you had a boat, there was no way to escape. The pictures coming out of North Carolina look similar to Katrina. Anyone who was caught in that area during the storm likely died or had to be rescued, but it did not turn into a situation where thousands of people were stranded for days because the water receded a lot more quickly.
