OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - 6 News Political Reporter Brian Mastre will moderate a debate between the two candidates in the contentious Congressional race for Nebraska’s “blue dot” district on Friday.

Incumbent Republican Rep. Don Bacon will again take on State Sen. Tony Vargas of Omaha in a live debate at noon Friday at the Omaha Press Club.

Watch the livestream above, in our apps, and on our Facebook and YouTube pages. The debate will also air on Cozi Channel 6.2 (Channel 120 for Cox customers) at 7 p.m. Friday.

The two candidates are in a contentious rematch for the state’s 2nd Congressional District seat. Vargas lost to Bacon in 2022, 48% to 52%.

Bacon has held the seat since he defeated Brad Ashford in 2016 — the same year Vargas was elected to the Nebraska Legislature.


Tony is backed by the DCCC Red to Blue program.
