(22,417 posts)Thing doesn't make a lick of sense. How many "days" went by before the earth started rotating on it's axis? If there's no earth or rotation then what the heck is a "day?"
If I were the teacher, I'd go straight to the spots where they explain the burnt offerings, who to beat your slave, and all the ways people should be killed for minor offences like eating shellfish....

Not entirely surprisingly, later translators have managed to be more accurate that the early 17th century British ones - by simple iteration, if nothing else. Anyone who claims the 400 year old attempt is the "historically accurate" one is either a fool or a con artist.
Also there, showing this is a con to give Trump money:
2.6 The suppliers Bible must not contain study guides, publisher narration, or additional commentary.
Adding the US-specific stuff is "additional commentary" and "publisher narration". This is a demand to get the Trump-enriching one and nothing else.

(13,633 posts)That's about the only educational value it has in children's public school education on the taxpayer's dime. Other religious texts can likewise be taught in context of a greater world culture.
If you're concerned with their spiritual or religious education, that's between the child's family and whatever religious institutions that family chooses to participate in.
Otherwise, it's all just indoctrination instead of useful education.

Retrograde
(10,716 posts)but it has no place in most of the rest of the curriculum. I spent 12 years in Catholic schools, and the only time there was any study of the Bible was in 10th or 11th grade Religion, which covered the Old Testament.

Lets not forget the U.S. News & World Report that
In 2024, Oklahoma was ranked 49th out of 50 states for education. This is due to poor performance in standardized test scores, graduation rates, and higher education statistics.
