The next Secretary of State in my opinion... He's the best!!!
Alan Covington
Were told Pete Buttigieg was the point man for the administration in getting the agreement to suspend the port strike.
Named specifically by both sides in the press release.
Its quiet, but effective, leadership people appreciate.
No rallies, no blowhard ranting - just a deal

I agree. He clearly has a talent for bringing opposing sides together.

(56,800 posts)He has elevated the post of Transportation Secretary from "just another cabinet post" to one of major significance and impact, and if he wants to stay on there, I wouldn't mind. If Blinken weren't so damned good as Secretary of State, I would have hoped for that, but Blinken needs no replacing. I would only suggest Buttigieg for State if Blinken has other plans.

(4,416 posts)While #8 above recommended him as UN Ambassador... a job at which he'd excel at, IMO... I really want to be around to cast a vote for him as Prez. He could actually bring back male statesmanship!

(56,800 posts)Of course, I was also hoping to see him elected as Vice-President next month, but I already got to celebrate 50 years with my wife this year, and hoping for TWO miracles in one year was probably asking for more than my allotted quota.

(3,539 posts)We have a cabinet level position that deals with that sorta shit. (In fact, the Labor Secretary was praised by the ILA leadership).

But the 2032 primary will be a tough one, with all the excellent Dem candidates.

(7,965 posts)bridge dropped onto the interstate here in Colorado.
It happened on like a Tuesday and I had a trip which was important to me scheduled for Sunday which would require me to go past that bridge. I went to every map I could find and planned an alternate route. But by Thursday or Friday, while the bridge was not back in place, the interstate was already drivable. I was gobsmacked in the nest [ossible way.

If we can make it through this election and save the Republic, I think Harris, Walz and the rest may usher in a new New Deal (Opportunity Economy) that strengthens this liberal democracy for the next fifty years.
I like the idea of him as Secretary of State in a Harris Administration. He is outstanding.
