(2,402 posts)I'm not sure how to remedy the problem of mushroom people (kept in the dark and fed shit).

(5,652 posts)It's the denial in the face of facts and evidence, because you don't like them.

(21,284 posts)a small percentage granted, but not all have been newbies just trolling. Some very long-term members have said there is no evidence of sexual assaults or proof that most casualties were caused by Hamas rather than the IDF.

(64,765 posts)Apparently the implication that many Americans no longer know our number system as Arabic Numerals is a far greater atrocity than the news that less than a third of US Muslims believe verified facts about October 7.

(3,384 posts)doesnt matter when bad things happen to Jews. That is the truth here.
The stupid Arabic numerals thing and the heaven forbid idea anyone would think poorly of Islam? That requires a national inquiry. People denying Oct 7th? Well if they are white neo nazis then yes lets talk about it but if they are any other group then definitely no.

(10,402 posts)Did you know the movie Beetlejuice is actually a derivation of the star Betelgeuse, the red star of Orion's right shoulder.
Betelgeuse, which is frequently thought to be on the cusp of supernova (in astronomical terms), is called such in English because translators messed up the original Arabic name for the star.
And if someone doesn't know Arabic origins of astronomical terms, well, it's like their teachers totally failed. Should we even allow them to vote at that point?

(64,765 posts)And anyway, Ptolemy, who named the constellation Orion by culturally appropriating Greek mythology, lived in Alexandria, which is an infamous example of western genocide led by a Macedonian guy claiming to be Greek, followed by Roman oppression and occupation, against Egyptians (who were Black Africans) after said Macedonian dude (who was probably gay!) trampled all the rights of - wait for it - Afghanistan! Which became Muslim! So I don't know what your goal is bringing up Orion but lemme tell you sonny, this apologia of western oppression will not stand.

(1,049 posts)Its TOTALLY wrong, but I can see why some people want to reimagine the truth. Im sure no one would want to admit anyone of their culture is capable of what occurred on 10/7/23.

(630 posts)to demonize muslims.
Almost 4 in 10 U.S. Muslims (39%) believe that Hamas did not engage in acts of murder and rape during the October 7 attack on Israel, while only 31% acknowledge that Hamas terrorists did commit such acts, according to a new survey conducted by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, revealing significant divisions in how American Muslims view the terrorist group's actions that day.

(10,402 posts)Because "BuT miCHiGan!!!" and other assorted ideological nonsense. Oppressed can't be oppressors, blah blah blah.
I mean, that stuff has been posted right here and just sits right out in the open. This week we got an eyeful about how Jews have collective guilt. Which isn't my usual reading fare on DU, but I guess that's ok now, too. The shit's still there.
If we can't even purge it in our own spaces, what are the chances this problem gets tackled elsewhere?
Nil.
Antisemitism isn't the bug. It's the feature.

(5,652 posts)It's discouraging to see it allowed to continue openly.
I've seen too many here denying that anti-semitism is on the rise in our country and even downplaying the problem in general
