they don't think he is. According to Simon Rosenberg, last week their were 25 rightwing affiliated polls flooding the zone; this week it is more. There are almost no leftwing affiliated polls.
What would they get out of this? Two things, possibly: create a narrative so that low-info voters want to join the "winners" and create the illusion of winning to support inevitable claims of election fraud in case of loss.
As Rosenberg has pointed out recently, if the rightwing polls were factored out in 2020, they remaining polls were accurate. So why are the RW polls being used by some analysts now except to create a false "red wave" narrative? Rosenberg also blasts the media for not reporting on this flood of rightwing polls.

(20,428 posts)Funny, but right before that I noticed that the e-mails I receive multiple times a day asking for money abruptly stopped. I thought, oh, after one billion, they don't need any more money. But from what you say, it doesn't sound like that's it.

(5,667 posts)One thing that Simon said really made sense-
If you get a mail in ballot, return it as soon as possible because that helps them to better predict the outcome.
Since ~ 50% of all registered voters vote by mail now & vote prior to Nov. 5th, there is a threshold where they can accurately say that Repugs wont be able to catch up and win on Election Day.

(4,495 posts)He doesn't care about the election at all. He has other plans... thats what we need to be on top of. We might think of one or two things, like the courts or SCOTUS.
But how many of us have the knowledge of his evil lawyers and minions, and how many of us can go down to their level of thinking? I never saw a WH lawyer coming up with a way to get around the EC. He'll, I'm still trying to figure out the guy who keeps stealing my wind chimes and other outdoor pretties. I could never sneak into someone's yard and steal from them. What kind of person does that? And that's why whatever Trump does at the election will floor me.

(4,495 posts)I've already thought about the SCOTUS. I figure he and his official minions are gonna come up with some weird pie-in-the-sky scheme that'll be hard to tear down, constitutionally. THEN SCOTUS will slip in and do their thing.
I truly hope I'm wrong. The first thing I'm expecting is another Brooks Brothers riot in one of the Battleground States, either PA, WI, or MI. (my bet is in MI) Only this one will be much more violent, IMO. Way too hard to ignore, and may ignite others in other states, even those not battleground states. This will thrill trump, and egg him on to bigger election crimes. I think he may try to take this as "proof" of the rigging, and try to take it directly to SCOTUS. At this point, at least, I don't think SCOTUS will take it. I think they'll turn him away. They "said" one and done with GW. Not that their word means anything, but I think they'll see the handwriting on the wall where riots are actually concerned should they put T in as prez, like they did Bush. In many, important ways, Bush was the biggest disappointment for R's and the NAR. They truly thought they could make much more headway towards a theocracy with Bush in office, and although lots of gov't office were then headed by NAR people (National Apostolic Reformation people), Bush actually kept the theocracy take-over to as low a simmer as possible. Cheney was suppose to be the guard and lead him, but that relationship actually soured toward the end.
I think SCOTUS might actually be afraid of putting T in office this time. At least, that's what I'm hoping... I need to run my cards, but I'm afraid of what they'll tell me. They predicted Bush as Prez.

(1,175 posts)Sorry, I had to laugh. We had a neighbor drive his little tractor onto our property, load a trailer up with mulch from our pile, and haul it over to his house. Had he asked I would have shared with him. But to steal it! We couldn't believe it.

(4,495 posts)with what they liked most and done it gladly. Instead, they keep stealing stuff. I love Halloween, but I figure if I put anything out, it'll disappear! Thing is, from what's been taken, it truly looks like an adult did it... not kids! It may be someone in the neighborhood that snapped that something I put out looked "occult-y" since I'm Pagan, and is now making me pay for not being a "good" christian like them!
But to just drive up with a tractor and load up on YOUR mulch?! Man, that's ballsy!!!! (LOL)

It smells to high heaven and is non-toxic. It may deter them. Plus, if they are ever close by you will be able to smell them.
And I'm not joking.
It's also very good for political yard signs because it's stinky and slick.

(26,005 posts)But not poop.
It really depends on who you ask. I find it indescribable and horrifically strong. It definitely lingers because it's oil based.
I only used it once, in the laundry room. Never again. I use it outside on the deck but don't get it on surfaces that are walked on because it's slick and I'm already accident prone.
Here are a couple of quotes from some reviews:
The company description definitely downplays the odor. As do some reviews that I suspect were compensated.

(790 posts)People seem to way overestimate how polling is going to supposedly motivate or depress voters, and underestimate the people more influenced by polling: donors
At any rate, it's easy enough to spot the flood-the-zone BS polling and then filter what we're looking at down to legit pollsters with good track records.

. . . In having important Republican figures support Harris. (Besides the obvious.) Those Republicans have a lot to lose if Trump finds a way to throw out the election results. Their presence in the Harris camp doesn't just bring in votes, it stabilizes a possibly precarious situation.
So, yes, I'd love to believe that they're in it for the "democracy", but there is a decidedly self-serving element as well. I almost trust them more when I factor in that point.

(10,761 posts)and they need to sow enough seeds of doubt beforehand. If enough polls say it's very close then they get some plausible excuse, and maybe they have some plan to swing sympathy their way. Elon Musk appears to be all-in, so they likely have a pretty strong plan.
I think they know they're losing, there haven't been any undecided voters in a long time, and neither Trump nor Vance have any capacity to broaden the base or win new voters over.
I know that all sounds like a pretty out-there conspiracy theory, but it makes more sense than all these billionaires throwing their money at nothing and then walking away. Plus, it's what they've said they will do (though of course they word it differently).

(24,908 posts)they are not reliably factual enough to be proof. Too many variables. People can say one thing and vote the other way. Plus, polls from one party can have an inherent bias that makes them unacceptable evidence for a court.
So, the only use for the polls is to "justify" an overthrow attempt.

(14,849 posts)Then you know they are hurting, so redouble the fight.
I am reminded of the movie "Gettysburg" (1993) in which Col. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain (Jeff Daniels) and his men control the heights, but are badly outnumbered and low on ammunition. Nearly out of ammunition, they charge downhill with fixed bayonets.
We've got them on the run. Fix GOTV bayonets (ballots, not bullets)
Wonder Woman will win if we make every effort.
