I don’t believe there’s anyone anywhere who is going to vote for Harris because she promises to bring in Republicans to her fucking cabinet. Since MAGAt repubs in congress continue to act like idiotic nitwits, the dems should step up and act like the rational adults we are, to start the healing process.

Luckily we have many repubs REAL repubs to choose from. Remember, there’ll be another election 2 and 4 years from now. If we want to continue to have the REAL repubs support, we MUST do what is the logical thing to keep it.

How many cabinet positions are there anyway. I’m sure giving a few to our repub supporters will not debilitate us. Beside, look at what they are sacrificing to help us… setting aside their political values. Surely we can afford to be generous in return.

He lead the charge to cut DoD expenses, shifting that "savings" to the Treasury into the pockets of contract service providers, leading to a significant amount of equipment down-time along with a loss of training and experiance when shit goes down underway or out in the field. He also consolidated bases and maintenance facilities, leading to problems caused like those that occured when they sent Navy Carrier and Marine Corps planes to be serviced at Air Force maintenance bases.
Y'see, Air Force doesn't have requirements to land on a postage stamp in the middle of the ocean; way different specs and tolerances, and about a dozen pilots were killed over three years before the Navy put it's foot down and said no, we re-open our own maintenance depots.

He, like his partner in privatization Donnie Rumsfeld, thought the military shouldn't try to attract intelligent and curious service personnel. Soldiers and Sailors are fungible DoD assets.

In what position, I am unsure. Kamala would know best.

Definitely someone who wants to see a strong Democracy where there is consensus. Not all Republicans are bad. Just the MAGAts in Congress.

Think. Again.

Nor are the many other Republicans who have endorsed Harris.

I disagree with them all on nearly every domestic policy, but they are not fascists. I believe that giving at least one Republican a place in the cabinet helps break down the hatred people of both parties currently have for members of the other party, and can play a small part in rebuilding a non-fascist, pro-democracy Republican party.

Our country will be safer and stronger when the MAGA spell breaks. They're willing to put country before party despite all our other differences, and we should be, too.

He’s been a rational R - and any one who did actually vote for impeachment. But I would not have overtly stated that I would give an R a position at all. Let it be a true gift and a surprise.

A hard NO to Cheney. Remember, she'd accused Democrats of supporting the killing of babies after birth (I can link to video if you want), and she's never rescinded those remarks.

If we really need a "name" Republican, maybe Kitzinger, but maybe find one who left the party BEFORE Trump, who recognized what a dumpster fire the GOP had become before they elected a walking dumpster fire. And not anybody who needed January 6 to convince them to oppose him.

60. Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-WA) as Secretary of Agriculture
Wed Oct 16, 2024, 05:35 PM

Newhouse has five advantages here.

1. He's a moderate Republican who has beaten MAGAts.
2. He voted in favor of impeaching Trump after the Capitol attack. He also voted aye on the Respect for Marriage Act.
3. He's a good choice for Secretary of Agriculture because he has a degree in Agricultural Economics from Washington State University and he runs a successful 600-acre farm. He grows hops, tree fruit and alfalfa.
4. There's no risk of people claiming President Harris is trying to subvert the balance of power in the House because Washington's 4th Congressional District, which he represents, is so far to the right there have been two Republicans on the general election ballot more than once. (Just so you know: Washington uses a "jungle primary" system for all offices except president where the top two in the primary, regardless of party, advance to the general election.) If Rep. Newhouse is made Secretary of Agriculture, WA-4 WILL send another Republican to replace him in Congress.
5. While very competent as an elected official, he keeps a very low profile. Most people haven't heard of him. He doesn't go on TV and spew extraneous bullshit like, say, Marjorie Taylor Greene does. He goes to work, does the people's bidding and returns home. This is why he may not want to do it - he doesn't seem like the kinda guy who wants to do the Sunday-morning talk shows.

Nobody believes bipartisanship is anywhere in our near future or that this move will change that in any way. I think it about the possibility of maybe getting a few more of those "undecided" votes. Even if it's a tiny amount. It won't have any impact on her administration if she wins.

One of the few good things Kinzinger takes seriously is the VA, so I'd trust him with a VA Administrator post.
Riggle is good on Cybersecurity.

I would thank Liz Cheney for her service to democracy and leave it at that. Her main focus is sane washing old school Globalist/Reagan Republicans so they can get back to their trickle down policies and anti-commie BS.

That want to mass deport Black and Hispanic people
That want to treat LGBTQ+ people as 2nd class citizens or worse
That want to force women to bleed to death in hospital parking lots.

I want no one that enabled the Reagan or Bush or Trump to be in a position of power over my life.
That Democrats are crowing to be ruled by Republicans is gross
