We will win.

Dear DUers,

I have been here since 2002. Almost at the inception of this sites creation. We were established when Bush Jr. stole the presidency from Al Gore. There was a small protest. A few people who created this site showed up. Emad, Earl G. But it was that, a simple protest. No insurgency. No claims to illegitimacy of the President. It hurt. First time in our lifetime the popular vote winner didn't win. Now of course it's a regular occurrence. Hillary won the popular vote by millions.

Here's why we win fellow DUers. Turnout is king. Absolutely. We must turn out as much as possible. That goes without saying. But there is something different, and I can smell it. There's something floating in the air that previous elections in my lifetime did not have. It's not Hope. Hope is good. Don't get me wrong. It's not Change. No, things will be as they aways have been. The country is just 3 generatons old. No, it's the grand nature of things. That goodness wins over evil. That is what our liberal democratic republic was founded upon.

Goodness wins. My dear DUers, I recognize you by name, so many of our elders, so many posters. We are going to win this thing. And the evil man shall be remembered by history, as he rots in a jail sell, as a disgrace to our great country. I am so lucky to have been born here, and I am so lucky to have found this site 22 years ago.

We will win.

Yet, the polls are so close and Trump has apparently been gaining recently.

There's certainly issues in this country, but things from awful. There's no recession, inflation is just about under control. No social unrest.

Harris is running a solid campaign, while Trump is running the worst campaign of his three. Everything about him is more ridiculous than ever and tiresome.

I just don't understand why this race is a toss-up. Unless the polls are off yet again, but this time overestimating Trump?

But I'm not anymore. My mantra was "Evil People Prosper" based on a Morrissey song "Yes I Am Blind."

No. Goodness wins. The very foundation of this nonsensically great country is to seek out goodness. To be better, to live better, to strive for better. We fucked up so much in our early history, but from Lincoln forward, we have tried our damnedst to be better.

Not only will we win, but I have a strong suspicion that we will win by a lot. So much more than the polls, the pundits and the anxiety-wracked are willing or able to say.
Do the work and reap the rewards. I think we can get this done.

I keep saying this and keep getting told that it's a close race that could go either way and I am probably wrong. A little bit here, every time I mention it at home. I keep getting reminded about Clinton. That the GQP cheat very well. And so on.

No--this is different, as you say. This town is Trump Central. We went to vote this morning, Day 2 of early voting. We do this every four years (and midterms)--we walk in the door, straight to the room with the booths, pick a booth, vote, drive home. This time the parking lot was full. The line was very long. And here's what I noticed: The people were happy. They were smiling as they chatted. The guy in front of me kidded me about something and we joked back and forth while we waited. I commented that I had never seen so many people there at once and he said wryly "Hmm, this must be important." That doesn't sound like something a trumper would say. A few couples came in scowling, never stopped scowling, never spoke--ok, so there were some trumpers there. Harris voters have hope and joy and I'm saying I saw it in 80% of that crowd. It's different this time. And yes, we are going to win.

My wife, not usually that political a person, but someone who followed Chris Cuomo over to NewsNation.... And will watch that news channel over CNN (won't even look at Fox, MSNBC, etc).... Got her uncle to vote for the first time since Jimmy Carter was president. He voted almost a straight D ticket. He's a Vietnam veteran. Wifey voted straight D. Would have voted for Nikki Haley over Joe Biden. My father in law voted for the first time in ages... Voted for Harris. My mother in law teased the heck out of me... Said she voted for the turd.

She got her sister to the polls after she found out she wasn't registered. She's gonna drag her other uncle to the poll, last time he voted it was either for Clinton, Dole or Nader - he's one of those "a pox on all their houses" guy.

So she's more than doing her bit. This will again be a GOTV election . However I will advise 2026 election starts now.

The momentum may not be as noisy, but it is growing in intensity. People are working hard…like they never stop. There is no time to be loud, there is too much left that we can still do to ensure victory. People are pulling together, new communities are forming and we are seeing the real power of our movement. It is exciting, inspiring, and motivating. Kamala is right, we LIKE hard work when it’s to an end we all agree on: saving our democracy!

Yes. We will win.

running as POTUS, and the "black man" drew massive crowds. More than Kamala, but still, he

ran on "HOPE" (that was one of his campaign slogans and images). Obama transcended everything.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_United_States_presidential_election

He demolished everything that year, and got 365 EV. I believe Kamala is yet another transcendent person.

It was also the last time NC went "blue". I think it will again this year.

Oh, both happen to be HEALTHY black people. Obama a man, Kamala a woman. Both were US Senators, but Kamala Harris has the added advantage of already being VP for 4 years. So to me that would neutralize most of the "but, she's a woman" crap out there. Not all of it, but most of it.

Oh, and he's been campaigning for Kamala too.

I dropped out of politics and skipped Kerry. (I was a Deanniac.) I didn't fight then. And I learned now. I am currently in a swing state. I am pushing every single person I know to vote Blue. And it sucks because several of my friends are Trumpers.

But that matters not. We are going to win. We are going to win so big. And they don't see it. But we will. Win.

Thank you again for your story and view.

I plan to be phone banking Monday and knocking on doors later next week. I have never done either, but I can’t stand the idea of doing nothing.

On Tuesday I met two volunteers who had come here to Maine from Vermont and New Hampshire and who were working at the farmers market, handing out signs and asking for help for the Dems. They were very dedicated and funny, and focused on our split electoral college votes.

They got me!

After 2000, when it was becoming more and more evident that the GOP was going to milk 9-11
for as much political gain as possible. Regardless of "trivial" concerns like public opinion or facts.
I spent a year lurking and then became a member.

I remember the heartbreak of watching GWB win re-election in 2004. But I was pretty sure then that the GOP
was about to become obsolete.
And now, they are obsolete—and bleeding support.
We will win.

Frustrated with the jingoistic coverage 9/11 was getting, I actually yelled at my TV, "Godammit, stop telling me how to feel!" I jumped online in a search for more appropriate media, and came across Michael Moore's site, which contained a link to Democrats.com. Thrilled with how much less alone I felt, I tried to find it again a day or two later, and must have mistyped something because this is where I landed LOL
