(37,139 posts)How much class can you have when you have a flag or hat that says "F---Joe Biden" or the one Jo
and the Ho and Trump says a shit VP. They are just the lowest class garbage in the country. I live amongst them,
they make racist comments if they see a mixed couple. They see a gay couple it sets them off. I guess I am
stupid, I just can't see how someone else lives their life has to do with my life.

(2,535 posts)It's baffling. All I can figure out is that people like us must be (if not stupid) just very secure with who we are. For some reason I am not even remotely threatened by gay people or trans people. Just because they are gay or trans doesn't mean I have to be. That's one of the differences between normal people and MAGA.

or trans people have those tendacies themselves. I am a 76 year old man, in my entire life the only men that ever made a pass at me were married to women.

(2,535 posts)I don't know about transitioning, but it absolutely is true for many men who are so out-there enraged by gays. Denial is difficult to maintain over a lifetime.

(30,067 posts)at people, such as myself, whose complaint is "why am I forced to accept these FREAKS with their petty, cruel bigotries, their incessant hate, their endless lies, their denial of history, their violence, their worship of a fascist, etc etc etc?"
i will soon be in a situation with my oldest brother. i really do believe that i am past the point of tolerating his racist bullshit. Not that he stops there. My plan is to challenge him to acknowledge that I (me, his liberal sister) am every bit as patriotic and American as he is. I'm not going to start the conversation but I don't believe I can just let it slide as has been done for decades with him. I'm the youngest, he's the oldest. Our sister is declining with Alzheimer's and it's our most likely last chance for all 4 of us to be together at the same time. As it is we generally go years without ever talking, but now. Some things are, or should be, more important than our political differences.

(33,288 posts)The "we're being forced" crowd is doing the exact thing they're accusing others of doing--forcing their views and beliefs on the rest of us. What they're really saying is that the rest of us should be forced to adhere to THEIR beliefs, and they're going to scream "persecution" if they don't get their way. Just like they always do.

(27 posts)... and there's not a thing you can do about it. To try to comprehend their compulsive focus on things like this is nearly impossible, if you yourself are not wired that way. My wife has often said... 'If I can just get [right wing person] to read this, maybe...' Doesn't work that way. They do not think or process info the same way. To a degree - a very tiny degree - I can give them somewhat of a pass, as there does appear to be a genetic component at play, at least with some % of them. And the fascist movement began targeting these folks, beginning 50 years ago, because they had that genetic propensity.

(30,067 posts)because at least one of those people is my own brother.
i think it's more nurture than nature, particularly in the context of incessant propaganda that they've been lapping up for years and years. They have surrendered any critical thinking skills they may have once possessed. In the case of my brother, he came into the whole thing with a sort of rabid racism, and is now fully brainwashed. a foxbot. I truly believe that the architecture of his brain has been altered.
