Everyone, including the trump people outside were super nice and helpful. The line moved quickly. Apparently on Monday the line was very long, out the door and deep into the parking lot. Including finding a parking place and standing in line etc took less than an hour. The best part was all the BLUE that people were wearing. Not a single red or even orange shirt. My friends hot pink shirt was the closest thing to red I saw. One of the best voting experiences I've had. Thank you Sarasota County. I wasn't expecting that.

(25,977 posts)I was a bit surprised when the woman in front of me started talking politics to me. Thankfully it was Pro Dems. I think she saw my County's Democratic candidate card. It was so helpful. Made voting for under ballots and amendments so much easier.

(2,221 posts)your county's Democratic voting card. The candidates are probably pretty straightforward but the amendments can be very confusing, often they are worded to be confusing. Also there may be judges or others who are "not political" but there may be an untold story behind the scenes.
I have no affiliation with this site, but it seems useful.

markodochartaigh
(2,221 posts)that the Democratic parties of many counties put out. It lists which candidates the local Democratic party supports as well as other things on the ballot, judges, amendments, other local officials, etc. The ones that I have seen usually have a discussion of each amendment and why they support or don't support the amendment. That part is especially useful because amendments are often worded in a deceptive way.
Edit: Generally, if you go to your county's Democratic party website the information will probably be there, or you can give them a call and they can provide you the information.

(5,112 posts)This time I noticed because there was so much of it and so little of any other color. But have it your way. This was my experience you're mileage may vary. And as I'm thinking about it no, blue is not the predominant color down here. Much brighter ones prevail such as my friends bright pink. It's Florida where colors and sunshine prevail most of the time.

(15,548 posts)I live in a suburb of San Antonio just outside of Bexar County. Bexar is generally blue being the metro area that it is.
I have to vote in an adjoining, very RED county that is mostly rural. Paper ballots and early voting at the church building in town!!! LOL
But I got it done!!!

(5,112 posts)lI was just amazed at what a good mood everyone was in and how friendly. I think I listened to the tales of angry people too much. I know there are some, but I'm thinking there are far fewer than the media of all types are trying to tell us.
