Rep Jim McGovern recalls January 6... vividly.

Acyn
McGovern: I was the last person off the House floor on January 6. I took over for Speaker Pelosi, went into the Speaker’s Lobby, and saw this mad, deranged crowd smashing the glass, trying to get at us. 140 law enforcement officials were injured, and some died from their injuries. Staff were traumatized. If these people had gotten to us, they would have killed us. To call them hostages or political prisoners is grotesque. It shows that Donald Trump is a sick, demented man.

I remember watching Republican colleagues crouch behind chairs in the House gallery, afraid for their lives, some on the verge of tears. This notion of saluting or praising those who caused this chaos, this violence, and harmed law enforcement is sickening—it makes me want to vomit. That’s why Trump cannot get anywhere near the White House. He is unfit to govern. It is quite frankly disgusting that he is the nominee of a major political party in this country.

I hope he loses, and loses big. I hope Republicans lose big and are forced to reinvent themselves and go back to being conservatives instead of being held captive by this MAGA right-wing group of extremist fascists.

I wish he was my congressman. Twenty years as a house staff member and then twenty years in congress. He is amazing! Feed the hungry, help the homeless, mentor the young, protect the old and the defenseless. He helped lead the investigation into the assassination of Bishop Romero, the murder of Maryknoll nuns, he fights for those who need help.
He does a 60 mile walk to raise money and collect food for his local food bank and sits on the agriculture committee to try to help the hungry masses. I can’t say enough good things.
