Just watch. If you were a GOP crossover voter, would you be very vocal about it in a red area with loony MAGATS around?

(3,725 posts)and then vote for down ballot Republicans. Theyre the ones supporting Trump and no different than him. Those opposing Trump lost in the Primaries and arent on the ballot.
It would have to be a total crossover

(6,101 posts)Even if Harris got 95% of the unaffiliated voters, she'd have to pick up more than 15% of the GOP vote to get to 55% of the total.

As Carville said, Harris support from AOC to Cheney. And I imagine a huge swath in between.
Trump's coalition is static. He has a ceiling. He has not gained any new voters. He was rejected by a good percentage in his own primary.
Trump's popularity at this point is an illusion. A myth. Reality is going to hit hard on November 5th. The People are going to significantly reject him.

(510 posts)We all saw that Nikki Haley was getting 12 to 17% of the primary votes and these were the never Trumpers and those folks are probably gonna be voting for Kamala Harris

(15,053 posts)I am not posting this to be doom and gloom, just to say that it is very likely the margin will be closer than what the optimistic takes on these scenarios might lead people may want to think. So, sure, they may not vote for Trump and that is good, but not voting Kamala either is more of a half vote gain than a full vote gain. Again, obviously better than voting Trump ...

(112,957 posts)I think a good percentage of early Republican voting is actually voting for Kamala or against Trump. Perhaps it is just wishful thinking on my part but I cannot believe that he is going to get the same degree of support from Republicans as in the past.
