The e-mail is an offer to subscribe at a GREATLY reduced price.
I think this is a good indication that they are feeling the results of their political cowardice.
This fast. Basically immediately.

snip-"The Washington Post has lost at least 250,000 subscribers since announcing last Friday that it would not endorse a candidate for president roughly 10 percent of its digital following, the newspaper reported Wednesday."
The Post would not officially confirm that figure, saying it was a private company, but it was reported in a story in the newspaper that cited documents and two unnamed sources who were familiar with the figures. Another non-endorsement last week has caused thousands of Los Angeles Times readers to cancel subscriptions, although not nearly at the Posts level."
snip-"The Posts owner, Jeff Bezos, said presidential endorsements create a perception of bias at the newspaper while having little real influence on how readers vote. His said his only regret was making the decision known when passions are heated so close to Election Day; the papers editorial staff had reportedly prepared an endorsement of Democrat Kamala Harris."
snip-"A lot of people would have forgotten about the Harris endorsement slated to run in the newspaper, the Posts media critic, Erik Wemple, wrote. Few will forget about the decision not to publish it.
More there.
Yes I am enjoying the irony of using WaPo for this.
Bezos' smart OpEd hurt more then it helped IMO

(855 posts)Cancel Amazon too.
Dear_Prudence
(840 posts)The Slate publication advises that we cancel Amazon instead. No. I cancelled WaPo as a political act and because I feel like their integrity might be compromised. You might remember the 2018 NPR news story: "Video reveals power of Sinclair, as local news anchors recite script in unison". It hit me so hard to see our local newscaster become a corporate parrot that I even began to mistrust our local Channel 12 weather report. Paranoid, maybe so, but the next year, Trump altered the Dorian hurricane map with a Sharpie! So, too bad for the WaPo journalists, but I am not paying for gagged news or opinion edited with a Sharpie. As for Amazon, I don't suspect that the silly light media content that I personally consume will be compromised and, as a person with limited mobility, I "let my fingers do the walking" for much of my shopping. So, Slate, you make some excellent points. Now, go pound sand.
