(6,418 posts)moved here (acreage) in 1975, thought no kids would be trick or treating out in country so didn't buy treats.
Was wrong so, stocked up next year. and .... Crickets. And, ever since.
I guess word got around.

(10,543 posts)Its not conducive to good T or Ting. Plus long drives that are hills up or down leading to/from the houses.
Zero here in 29 years.

(903 posts)NOT too surprising, as I'm sure there were activities at the local school plus a kids' parade a few blocks over, plus they will be closing off this block tomorrow later afternoon and evening for treats and a movie for the kids, and in essence a potluck.
Some commuters may be surprised that they won't be able to use this block to dodge around the light further along the top of the hill...

(70,965 posts)We bought a Frito-Lay variety pack.
5 each of 9 flavors, so 45 little bags.
I've got 3 left!
Each kid got a bag of chips & a handful of the Mars minis.
So, if I gave out 42 bags we had 42 kids.
Still an hour left. But, that might be lean.

(70,965 posts)Two young boys come to the door. Mom & dad are at the end of our walk.
The younger one left his bucket at the curb. So, I give him a bag of chips & 4 or 5 minis. He's trying to hold them in his tiny hands & his dad says "Give them to me & get your bucket." The kid tells dad "I've got chips, too."
Dad says "I'll take the chips!" I told him that's why we do the chips because the patents will want them if the kids don't!.
He agreed it was a great idea. Of course, he was eating Doritos at the time!

(16,138 posts)I had Dh buy some candy today. He bought the worst kinds. This is important because we will eat them.
I told him to just tell me that was all they had left
I do not like Baby Ruth or Payday.

(70,965 posts)We bought a 45 pack of various Frito-Lay chips.
We have none left, and the last 4 kids got candy only.
So, we had to have 49 because I know I didn't give any kids more than one bag of chips.
I guessed 40. I underestimated.

67 kids. A little bit of candy left - a mix of Reese's pumpkins, Twix, KitKat, and 3 Musketeers. I always have an additional separate bowl with Skittles and Starbursts for kids who are allergic to peanuts.
