He is angry.
Liz Cheney represents Republican women that are voting against him. He has seen the numbers.
He is a sick sociopath without a governor on his mouth.
He sees the writing on the wall and he sees that he is going to lose this election.
He has to take it out on someone.
Perhaps he thinks he can stop Republican women from voting for Kamala Harris if he threatens them?
Perhaps he thinks he can stop the bleeding and still win this election?
He is a very angry man.

(13,716 posts)This style keeps everyone talking about what he said verses what a frightening failure and Russian asset he actually is ....a clear and present danger....
We thus give him a pass on accountability by focusing 24/7 on ridiculous outrageous claims...

(15,325 posts)President Biden stood up to bullies and corporate media condemned him for that because it hurt the feeling of the bullies.
But continued violence towards shithole's opposition is ok.

(14,141 posts)as close as predicted and it's going to be difficult to motivate his base. Liz C. is an easy target and she's a woman. Trump really wants her father and he wants to send a message to all women that this is what will happen to them if they don't toe the line.
One more thing: We shouldn't kid ourselves that this is all Trump and that he's a loose cannon. There are people behind him, pushing him, feeding him these ideas. He's a puppet.

(3,058 posts)I don't think his puppet masters would be stupid enough to make such a violent threat publicly right before the election. On the other hand, there is a lot of stoopid over there.

He is fantasizing about Firing Squads. And this isn't top news everywhere? There should be no voter, in whatever bubble, who goes to the polls not knowing this.
He is threatening murder all over the place and instead of puttting him in jail or mental health alert, half of America including SCOTUS is willing to give him the power to do it. Do they think he wouldn't do it? Are they ok if he does? If he changed his name to Hitler would they get it? Would they still go along?

(102,701 posts)It's when they stand up and say "Kamala Harris won the Electoral College, and there was none of this claimed 'fraud'" that his attempts to steal it will become impossible - if it's a bipartisan defence of the law, then officials, police and national guard members, even if they're personally usually Republican voters, get the clear message of where America stands.
So threats that could incite MAGA loons to attack principled Republicans seem worth it to him.

(112,959 posts)The Cult of Trump is huge. It is not just Republicans - it is comprised of many people that have never voted before, including many self-defined Democrats, Libertarians, Independents, and other misfits of society.
In my opinion, we need as many Democrats and Republicans as possible to defeat this very strong enemy of our democracy.

(3,058 posts)...from TFG's supporters is a mirage. Most of those supporters are fat old men or pasty-faced gamers who can't be bothered to get up off the couch long enough to do more than grab another ham sandwich and a beer before returning to the comfort of their perch above anyone who doesn't worship their demonic lord and savior, TFG. They're too cowardly, and not stupid enough to fall for the same BS that TFG will protect and pardon them for breaking the law in his name. I just can't be threatened by such fools and I don't think any of us should be. We have our weapons too, right here in the comfort of our own homes where the law requires we are protected. And there are WAY more of us than them.

(3,416 posts)Stochastic terrorism:
is a form of political violence instigated by (trumps) hostile public rhetoric that he directs at a group or an individual.
Unlike incitement to terrorism, stochastic terrorism is accomplished with indirect, vague or coded language, which grants the instigator (trump) plausible deniability for any associated violence.
A key element of stochastic terrorism is the use of media by (trump) for propagation, where the person carrying out the violence (a member of the maga cult) may not have direct connection to the user (trump) of the violent rhetoric.

(7,794 posts)More than a political opponent and critic, she currently performs as a doorkeeper barring the likes of Trump and Musk access to what they both long for over any honors. That being, unambiguous membership and uncontroversial acceptance to the most inner circle of America's oligarchical elite. The whole "Cheney support Harris because Trump bad" thing is telling, really. It reveals how unburdened with self-awareness the upper echelons and "old guard" of the Republican party actually are. They should welcome the likes of Trump and his "friends" as brothers. With their utter crudeness and total lack of foresight, they fit in nearly all respects.
