WASHINGTON, D.C., USA — With Election Day just a few days away, a Gen Z-led organization is projecting that young voters are on track to break youth voter turnout records.Voters of Tomorrow said a report has found early vote turnout is surpassing initial projections.
"Pulling from official early vote totals from Secretary of State data as of 6:00 pm Thursday, Voters of Tomorrow is tracking increased youth early vote turnout in multiple battleground states and nationwide," the organization said in a press release Friday.
Voters of Tomorrow said young voters across the nation have surpassed the early vote turnout projection by 20%. The organization said the benchmarks are based on 2022 voting preference rates.

Michigan, for example, is showing a youth early vote increase over projections of +221%!!
I would wager that Republicans in the know are beginning to shit multiple bricks over the blue tsunami that is about to wipe them out.

(8,904 posts)and I have seen data that is backing that up somewhere, but even if it is not, young men are still very progressive as compared to other men. And there are only so many wimmin-hating incels who have the gumption to put down their bag of Cheetos and the video game controls and fill out a ballot.

(15,181 posts)gun control, affordable debt-free college and abortion rights. And since they are quite diverse as a generation, most are quite comfortable with a mix of races/ethnicities, LGBTQ and non-binary people. Also, they are absolutely comfortable with female leadership.
That is why I don't think 'most.' I like to remember that the media is driven by both-sideserism and so they turn over all kinds of rocks to find these still-unconvinced and Trump supporting people.
Still...it will be women who save this republic. The age of patriarchy is gasping out the last of its last fear-based toxic masculinity in all its quivering insecurity.

(9,448 posts)I agree with you.
The Gen Z kids (boys and girls) mostly find dt disgusting. A couple of weeks ago I subbed for a Government class for two days and the assignment was to show the Frontline Documentary, The Choice: Harris Vs. Trump.
They had to take notes (the teacher asked questions about their early life's, the differences, etc.). One of the boys (11th grader) wrote at the bottom of his paper in big letters: "He's crazy"! . As they were handing their papers in I saw it and just died laughing. I said, "I hope things go the way I want them to!"

(7,995 posts)My older daughter (turns 23 Friday) voted proudly for Biden in 2020, her first election, & voted Dem this time, too. She says the thing she wants most for her birthday is for Kamala to win.
My younger daughter (turns 21 on the 19th) voted straight blue in her first presidential election. She says all her college friends & roommates have voted as well. It does my heart good to see how engaged & motivated the youngins are.

(8,904 posts)My Gen Z daughter is in the same age group and is a Kamala voter, as is my Gen Z son, who describes himself as a feminist. He’s the kind of young guy you might likely assume from his appearance would be a Republican (“jock” seeming white guy), but nothing could be further from the truth.

(15,274 posts)at least in most cases. You have to have voted in 2016 and 2020 to fit the criteria. The result is that polls will say the race is tied, which is motivating our base to show up … but there will be a big blue wave most people did not see coming.

(8,904 posts)Also, the (mostly male) pundits and pollsters have gone out of their way to ignore women’s fury over Dobbs this entire election cycle. They will be hit over the head with it soon, though.

(19,724 posts)What a lot of men (and some women) tend to forget is that both Gen Z and Gen Y were born after Roe had been in effect for quite a while. They grew up in an America where the right to safe, legal abortion care was an established fact and something they thought they'd always be able to count on. (Even though there were people trying to chip away at it from the beginning, the impacts of their efforts were mostly on abortion providers, rather than people in need of that care.)
When the Roberts court struck Roe down, those young women were aghast, shocked, and angry at having a right they'd had their entire lives taken away from them in the blink of an eye. I think they, along with older women like me who remember the "before times" and don't want to go back, are going to teach the GOP a painful lesson in this election, one they may or may not be ready to learn.
And I say "Bring it on!"

(8,904 posts)Somewhere I read that young women are casting ballots at very high rates. Which of course is not a surprise because of Dobbs. I also read that the incel crowd so far hasn’t shown up.
