Jenison Fieldhouse has the Harris campaign decked in Spartan green for the VP’s visit to East Lansing tonight. By the looks of the line outside, this place is going to be packed and the campaign has screens set up outside for overflow viewers.

Not long before VP Kamala Harris is set to rally supporters at MSU’s Jenison Fieldhouse, here’s how the overflow area outside is looking.

to her winning the state IMO. She has a huge advantage in college towns, probably about 65/35 split. Big deal for sure. My daughter is a Sr. at MSU and was at the rally tonight at Jenison Fieldhouse...seats about 10K and she said a few thousand more couldn't get in but watched on the monitors outside the Fieldhouse. GO GREEEEEEEEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO WHITE>>>>>>>>>

Other college towns KH has a decided advantage and the campaign has worked to GOTV:
Kalamazoo/Mt. Pleasant/Ypsilanti/Allendale/Marquette/Flint/Traverse City

Michigan is getting a lot of attention this time around.

Here is a little information about Michigan State University. The creation of the Land Grant college system is an important progressive milestone in US history. Public education is under all out assault by the right wing. It is important that we know the history of public education.

From the MSU website:

Michigan State University was established in 1855, and by 1862, it stood as the nation’s premier land-grant university. Over the decades, the university has continued to be a model of what a land-grant university can and should do. As a university of, for and by the people, Michigan State University began a long tradition of empowering people through educational opportunity.

In 1862 MSU became the nation’s premier land-grant university and the prototype for the entire land-grant system created when President Abraham Lincoln signed the Morrill Act in 1862. The act granted lands to each loyal state to support a college where the leading object shall be, without excluding other scientific and classical studies and including military tactics, to teach such branches of learning as are related to agriculture and the mechanic arts . . . in order to promote the liberal and practical education of the industrial classes in the several pursuits and professions of life.

https://msu.edu/about/history

From Wikipedia:

The history of Michigan State University dates back to 1855,[3] when the Michigan Legislature established the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan under the encouragement of the Michigan State Agricultural Society and the Michigan Farmer, the state's leading agricultural periodical. As the first agricultural college in the United States, the school served as a model for other institutions of its kind established in the period, to give an instance, the Agricultural College of Pennsylvania.

Together with the Agricultural College of Pennsylvania (now Pennsylvania State University), the College became one of the first two land-grant institutions under the Morrill Act enacted during Abraham Lincoln's presidency. This earned the school the title of "The Nation’s Pioneer Land Grant College". The first class graduated in 1861 right after the onset of the American Civil War. That same year, the Michigan Legislature approved a plan to allow the College to adopt a four-year curriculum and grant master's degrees. In 1870, the College became co-educational and expanded its curriculum beyond agriculture into a broad array of coursework commencing with home economics for women students. The school admitted its first African American student in 1899. In 1885, the College had begun offering degrees in engineering and other applied sciences to students.

I was always a fan of "that school up north" and the UM - MSU rivalry is big. I was happy to see Michigan finally beat the Buckeyes a couple of times recently, but OSU has a fabulous football program year after year.
