There's a financial incentive for those who've spread the lies about election fraud, says election expert David Becker. [People] have raised, let's face it, hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars off the lie that our elections aren't to be trusted.

(120 posts)...the nice lady working for the election came to those of us in line to tell us that while Illinois law doesn't require us to provide a driver's license or voter's registration card to vote, we'd get through a lot faster by providing one of them. A fellow a few spots behind us in line complained bitterly that more should be required than just one ID, and that (Governor) Pritzker would never do anything. None of them would, because "They're all determined to cheat." The election lady, with clearly an experienced smile, said she was not allowed to comment on any political issues. I said, simply, that maybe no one was requiring additional ID's because there isn't a problem.
The man, obviously very upset, answered that it's a HUGE problem. I let it go. The line was about to start moving again and I didn't want anything to inhibit my ability to cast my vote. But this has stuck with me these last few days. This man was absolutely convinced cheating was going on. Yes, I know he's been fooled, and since I don't know this man I cannot say he was perfect fodder for the big lie or if this fetid plant is growing anywhere the soil is prepared for it. It's concerning.
I'd lay money, if I were the sort that wastes money on wagers, that this fellow didn't watch 60 Minutes tonight, or ever.

(49,169 posts)he doesn't know, he probably doesn't even believe is true. He is saying it as a way to spread disinformation. No different than disinformation is spread online.
