(7,926 posts)Brevard County. Court deputies and court reporter were ecstatic. Saw a very young African American attorney (male) in the elevator when I was leaving the courthouse. We both looked down. I said yea. He said yea. No other words spoken.
Decided then to kick myself in the a** and quit crying. HE was the one at risk from these fascists. Was hoping he (and all minorities) were ok. They werent.

(25,839 posts)This miserable excuse for a human being has been a daily exhausting presence in our lives for nearly a decade, and i just want him to (pardon the language and the shouting) GO THE FUCK AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My preferred scenario for his long overdue dirt nap, which I have expressed in a few other threads, would be for him to be struck by lightning while he is out cheating at one of his golf courses. If he has a stroke or heart attack, whether in a public or private setting, you just know the MAGAts will accuse us of offing him.

(699 posts)Female voters in particular are going to make that clear on ROEvember 5, 2024.
Also, that final Iowa Selzer poll was a severe warning sign to Trump.
The Trump campaign has never recovered from Biden stepping aside and Harris moving to the top of the ticket.
Harris destroyed Trump during their debate.
I think Harris has received the widest range of endorsements in U.S. history.
Harris has earned unprecedented support across the entire political spectrum.
The Harris-Walz campaign was drastically better funded than the Trump campaign.
Harris has run a pitch-perfect campaign while Trump has run the worst one in U.S. history.
Even Trump's rallies have been thinning out.
And, Trump alienated Puerto Rican voters at the last minute.
There are scores of other reasons why 2016 and 2024 are much different.

(72,789 posts)It is going to be crushing. I predict the popular vote by @ least 12 to 15 million and
@ least 2 million of his 2016 voters are now dead from C-19, age, and other diseases.
And with Joe Biden in charge Russia will not be able to screw with the election as much.

(4,252 posts)I've got the sense a vast, under-reported wave of voters have decided the best method of affecting positive change is to quietly, and without drama or pronouncement, cast a vote for Pres. Harris.
(For the Statler's and Waldorf's out there: it's just a sense, only a gut feeling, at best a guess; not a researched and sourced analysis which leads us from A to B)

(30,037 posts)and I think she wins here, just as Obama did in 2008. Although there has been a lot of republican fuckery with the vote in this state.
If it wasn't possible for Kamala to win here the campaigns would not be spending so much time here. She has a great chance. Not just the disintegration of TCFSF right in front of our eyes, but the fall of Roe, Project 2025, JD Vance, etc.
I will be very disappointed if I'm wrong, but I do think NC will go for Kamala.

I think Harris may win by 4 points, not a landslide. There is no evidence to suggest it will be a landslide, and as another poster said upthread, landslides are a thing of the past. We live in a deeply divided country.

(66 posts)If we lose the senate or dont take the house, or both, she will have a difficult time delivering on her promises which will allow the rethuglicans to point and say they knew she would be inept
Throughout the campaign I have been wary of this possibility. I know Kamala has always boosted the local senator or congressperson at campaign stops, but I also think people have not been sufficiently warned about how imperative it is to give Kamala people who will work with her, not maga people who will try to thwart her at every step.

(2,338 posts)Thom Hartmann reported the results of a state poll a few weeks ago. I think it was a North Carolina poll, as I recall. The poll had moved in two or three weeks from the orange con man ahead 47.2 to 38 percent, to tied at 47.2. I wanted to call in because I noticed something about those numbers that nobody else apparently noticed, because nobody mentioned it. I didn't call in because that show is a hard one to get through, but what I noticed was that those numbers showed that ALL of the undecided and independent voters were breaking for Harris. Her numbers were only moving up, while his were not moving at all. If ALL of the undecided and independent voters break for Harris, she's going to win, and it isn't going to be close. I'm feeling really good. We're about to drive a stake through the evil heart of Trumpism and make it go away for good. Problem is, 55-46 will be a SOLID win for Harris, but it ought to be 80-20. And even then, I would wonder, what the hell is wrong with that 20 percent?

(10,883 posts)Enormous barriers are going to be erected. Long lines created by under-allocation of resources in populous, Democratic leaning areas are an old and proven tactic to suppress votes. And it works. Particularly when coupled with overconfidence. Many simply cannot afford to wait. Others think "she's winning anyway" and give up. In phone banking or canvasing anyone who hasn't voted yet needs to be prepared, and encouraged to be persistent and overcome hurdles that are going to be erected -- and be ready with a plan for waiting -- child care, time off work, whatever a person can possibly do.
We MUST stop cheering long lines. We should be angry and demand action and better future planning. Any federal voting rights legislation should include deep fines for counties who fail their residents and subject them to long lines.

This spells doom for Don the Con and his MAGAt Party.

I know that this will be a blow out, and he will not be able to say that the election was fixed in any way.

(3,297 posts)I was just having this very conversation with my boss an hour ago. She is not so confident, she thinks it can go either way and we won't know results for days. She asked me what makes me feel so confident, I told her I think everyone, EVERYONE is sick to fookin death of the chaos, lies, crimes being perpetrated in plain sight...even the independents will step out to vote blue, in a bid for stability and a final "BETHEFUCKGONE WITH YOU!" to the mangled orange hellbeast.
