General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsA lot of CYA going on today on both CNN and MSNBC
No more amplifying of the 'bro" vote or claims that minorities are swinging towards trump. Less sanewashing of cheato's remarks at his rallies (they will NEVER stop completely of course). Much more hedging of claims that cheato is ahead even by the R's on their political panels.
No more downplaying of the women's vote or stupid predications that the choice issue is not a major concern of voters.
I think the Selzer poll has spooked them, and I, for one, am enjoying it! Not making any predictions, but when Peter Baker is willing to say that trump has committed a lot of "fumbles" recently and Andrea Mitchell admits there is a "surge" towards Democrats, something is going on!

(8,499 posts)I live in CA and I got a booklet for my state elections and another one (!) for my county election! I couldn't believe it. I have lived in several other states and those booklets were crazy important for me since I'm new here. I could actually read up on the candidates with both sides listed on the booklets lists of candidates. Plus good ole CA and their propositions. All of the information needed to what exactly they stand for from both sides. It didn't tell me how to vote, just the facts, man. It's a beautiful thing.
IN, AL, NH, AZ are some of the states I've lived in and none of them sent out election booklets that were non-partisan. CA does. Yay.
Tansy_Gold

(2,870 posts)This year I got a State booklet and a booklet for my county.
And, thanks to Vote by Mail, I can sit down with the booklets and my tablet and carefully research the candidates and the measures.
Careful research on the candidates and issues. It is what the GQP fears.
Democrats, we love being able to be thoughtful about the process, and to be able to research and vote from the comfort of our own homes. This should be available to the entire country. I bet it would help improve voter turnout.

(8,499 posts)I also filled it at home and saved so much time reading the booklet. We dropped off the ballot at an official ballot box at the library and took photos to prove we voted. We got a text that it was delivered, counted and completed properly! Yay!
This should be the normal for nationwide.
love_katz
(2,870 posts)I'm old enough to have trouble standing for long periods of time on hard surfaces.
And, being able to vote from home made it much easier to research candidates and measures, so I could make the best choices that were available to me.
It really bothers me that the turnout numbers of eligible voters is so low. I think voting by mail would help a lot to increase participation in our most democratic process.
LittleGirl

LittleGirl
(8,499 posts)It's in the title. No worries. Easy to miss.
This is how I've always voted here in Cali and I thought it was normal everywhere. I have actually never physically cast a vote, always filled out a ballot at home and mailed it in. Crazy other states don't have ballot pamphlets! How are you supposed to understand the ballot if you don't have information? I'm starting to understand why other states are so messed up. I have to remember that even though I think California is normal, it's vastly different from other states. I'm very lucky to live here.

(19,339 posts)when it comes to polls. Republicans released no fewer than 15 polls today, all predicting Buttwipe45 as leading. Big surprise, right?
Of course they're all complete bullshit, and they're only being released to muddy the waters after Trump's inevitable defeat.
The honest, trustworthy polls all have Harris up by 3%, or more. I believe Harris/Walz win by at least 5% nationally, perhaps even more.
Thr Trump era ends tomorrow. It remains to be seen if the torch is passed to a younger nitwit, like Don Jr., or if these racist, misogynistic dummies will crawl back beneath the rocks from whence they came. I'd prefer the latter. 😁

(17,540 posts)Their family and sycophants control the rnc exec committee and votes.
To depose that cabal, you would have to go in with explosives. It would be easier to form a new party.
The family wont give up control, or the bank accounts, mailing lists, pacs, or other machinery.
The real question is what will the donors do. As long as their is the semblence of a plan, and tax cuts, they will keep funding.

However, I am not going to forget their lack of morals and ethics when Kamala Harris gets elected. will not end with a Harris/Walz win. RWers will huddle together to regroup for the 2026 primaries. They will trash President Harris at every chance. They will make up chances to trash her. They will be relentles with their cruelty, racism, and sexism.
Look at how they retaliated against Obama for having the audacity to win. It will be the same with Harris.
We will have to continue to work hard to have her back, to support her, and to push back HARD at the onslaught that she will face.
