(17,549 posts)Normally the repugs would just agree to a continuing resolution until he takes office, but they may just say f it and let the guv shut down.
Then eloon can start with an already shut down.govt. they will only budget each agency at his recommended level and only bring back a min staffing level.
So it could be pretty quick.

(17,549 posts)I think it involves notifying the employees xx days prior to termination, and some other criteria, so it needs to be planned.
But yeah, they can lay off federal workers.

(1,014 posts)They already have a blueprint. They can move agencies to new locations. I remember a big stink when they moved one out of the DC area. No one wanted to move.
They can also use attrition. Headcount from retires/people who leave won't be filled. They can also have their terrible cabinet heads create a hostile work environment that no one wants to stay in and people will leave. Once RFK takes over the FDA and puts everyone on researching brain worms, who will want to stay?
