This is worse than 2016. At least then we could console ourselves that we won the popular vote. And Trump was then a relatively unknown quantity; and not an insurrectionist; and not a convicted felon.
A depressing reality is beginning to sink in. And I hope female readers don't take this the wrong way: it's the reality as I see it; I wish it were otherwise. America simply will not deliver an electoral college majority for a female president for the foreseeable future. A popular vote maybe -- as with HRC -- but not an EC majority. I suspect it is a psychological relic of the macho frontier era.
I've heard all sorts of theories for Kamala's loss. I think this is the only one that holds any water. Anyone who cannot grasp the sheer gulf in class between the two candidates should watch the debate.
There was a time when Catholicism seemed an insurmountable barrier; JFK broke that one. And being of African-American origin: Obama broke that one. But gender bias is the one prejudice that seems refractory to change.
Realistically picking a male candidate with an enlightened approach towards women's rights is probably as good as it gets.

(47,599 posts)Trump will run it all into the ground. As to whether there will be anything worth salvaging, or if the rubes have the slightest idea what is really happening, that's another story.
And they'll blame it all on Biden, Hillary's emails, and Hunter Biden's laptop.

(11,983 posts)It sticks in his craw that he is not the most beloved, and he would demand that he win the popular vote along with the presidency. Had he just won the EC, the vote might be more believable.
