half the passengers are cheering about it. Most of them are locked in steerage, but somehow they truly believe they aren't going to drown with the rest of us.

We have no idea how many he will kill this time.

(25,369 posts)Fewer Democrats voted for Harris than for Biden.
There's nothing magical about it. It's strictly math.
VP Harris needed to do better and than Biden and Trump to win but the unaffiliated who we needed didn't vote for her and all the other Democrats we needed who voted for Biden stayed home.

(4,285 posts)at least, I haven't. I'm being told to just accept what the MSM is saying. And to that, I'm saying bullcrap. They've done nothing but lied and enabled the traitor up to now. Why would they tell the truth on this? Too many loose ends for me. But we're democrats. We don't go taking over the white house and shooting up everyone around us. We're too "civil"... and so, we'll be led to our deaths.

(4,285 posts)like I said, I finally fought through the depression far enough to get out of bedroom and into the rest of the house today. Shell shocked is the closest thing I can come to in describing how I felt. I even called a friend and cancelled a gathering we were going to have tomorrow night. I can't do anything until I come out of this funk... except take my SSRI's and hope they keep my head above water.
I still wish I could remember that other wonky election case... and it may have been from 2020!

(4,285 posts)as immigrants, and never really made any kind of culture for our own. We don't remember where we came from, we pass the current time in a digital fog, and have no idea where we're going. Real easy under those circumstances to steer someone anyway you want, as has been proven.
I'm just so embarrassed there's so many stupid, ignorant, illiterate people in the U.S. that have no idea how to think critically. We were suppose to be a shining beacon to the world. Instead, we're the shame of the world.

(73,023 posts)I work our poll, and we have this twerp R who poll watches during big elections.
He isn't obnoxious, but he's old enough to go back to Reagen, and as they do with little self awareness and their obliviousness, during a slow period Tuesday he just matter of factly dropped that Reagen line about 9 most terrifying words.
Reagen set the foundation for all this not trust government bullshit, then you had decades of these people marinating their brains in AM radio and Faux bullshit, and now the internet.
Trump just took the whip because they mealy mouthed shit like politicians,' the "base" was starved for the crack he gave them.

(24,529 posts)have to deal with the fact fact that a con artist won the election because a lot of Americans feel they've been given a raw deal whether or not Trump will help them with that, and in spite of the fact that the Democrats are their best bet. We're not going to drown because we're stronger than that. We will not just tread water, but will swim toward the best chance to survive and turn things around. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get working.

(4,285 posts)an option? I've already had one taste of an empty bank account when hubs got taken in by scammers and they raided all our money. With no SS checks, or SS checks cut back to worse than they are now, you're dooming a bunch of us to death.

(4,285 posts)and I know the Heritage people don't. They're all in on the "let the church do it." Never mind, tho, if you're not the right faith (I'm not).
We women have been in similar situations before. It's just a pity so many men want to control and keep women down. Its like... what did we ever do to you (except cook, clean, have your babies AND maintain a job outside the home). Yet women, because of those aspects in parentheses will have less $$$ in their social security check than men of the same age... because all of that indentured servitude to society isn't recognized as worthy of any monetary recommendations. So, when the men die and their SS check goes away you have lots of elderly women barely (if that) scraping by. We've been here before. Just go back and study the 1940s and 1950's... even a good portion of the 60's. And even then, SS and Medicare weren't offered to all in a fair and just manner.

(30,110 posts)Try to understand... The people behind Trump do not CARE about what is popular. They now control the media and we will be TOLD what is popular and lied to until enough believe it. Besides, elections are so "last century" now.
GPV
(73,023 posts)played the long game. Yes, in past cycles people have fought back and reversed the pendulum, but this isn't like the previous times. We have to factor in that we've passed the tipping point on climate change. We should have already made sweeping strides against pollution decades ago in order to stop the worst possible scenarios. We did not, and this election was truly our last chance to do so.
If you want to go down fighting, that's not a bad thing. Make life better for anyone any way you can. But the hardships that are coming will be driven by forces we can no longer stop. Nature will throw more and more extreme conditions at us, and governments will become increasingly autocratic until such time as they can no longer hold the line. Our species may actually wind up living in small bands in the polar regions, on a planet where other species have been decimated or wiped out altogether. It's not hyperbolic. This outcome just became that much more likely due to this election.
