When do we get around to blaming republicans?

...for voting to put a convicted felon/adjudicated rapist back in the White House to lord his criminality and treason over us?

Here for that discussion, if it happens.

Tired of the nonsense that it is all Democrats' fault that they aren't appealing to racist, sexist males. No, it isn't. It is the fault of the MAGA voters alone.

but if we want to win in the future, we (or rather the party) need to think seriously about why we lost. Blaming the GOP won't win an election.

which is why they focus so much on fomenting hatred. They figured that much out, and it wins for them.

Who they actually blame, I couldn't say, not being a Republican myself.

In the post mortem already commencing, to me a central question will be how did it happen that the party formerly the party of the working class "lose the room". Just like when an audience stops laughing at a comedian's jokes. The working class is not laughing now at Democratic material. Why not?

...like racism, for instance.

We know that the majority of black working class are reliably Democratic, and voted overwhelmingly for VP Harris.

Or misogyny.

Or transphobia, due to the barrage of false ads on that subject.

Less likely, imo, that the party which actually produced for working class Americans would be less favored on that measure than the party that wants to end unions and had fought against fair wages and workers' rights for decades and decades.

Or maybe it was the demagoguery about immigrants taking jobs from Americans, instead of their actual contributions to the economy and the nation.

It’s not unusual at this stage of the game out here. All of the votes aren’t even counted yet. I think Harris and team did an amazing job with the time they had. I think that a convicted felon still waiting sentencing has no business on the ballot but there he is. The difference between R’s and D’s. Six years later they still say their candidate won! We are four days out and we are already sweeping our candidates under the rug. Nope not gonna do it. Republicans voted for a liar, a felon, a racist, a rapist, a traitor ……it is on them!

Half a century of right wing propaganda:

1) appealing to their misogyny, racism and every other hateful tendencies to get them to vote not for their personal better interests, but instead to vote their hatred.

2) relentlessly casting democrats and liberals as America and God hating spawns of Satan to the point where we are viewed as ao horrible people cant vote for us.

24/7 365 days a year it's easy to understand how they got brainwashed to hate us. Plus on top of that add
in all the Russian bots sending anti-Democratic messages to their phones, we have a huge battle ahead.

Believe the powers that be who run & guide the Democratic Party need to find a way to have a 24/7 news
program to instantly rebuttal R's lies & shenanigans. And present our information in such a way as to
lead people to increase their critical thinking skills. "Don't believe us, goggle XXXXX on your smart phone
and make up your own mind"
Plus get all our alerts on everybody's phones.

they play the long game. time was on/is on their side.

the top knows people are like popcorn. put enough heat on the package and it will start popping whether it's open or not.

trump is the clown at the circus doing the show he is hired to do so what is being set up for the next act starts.

trump could die today. that next act (will) start without him.....then we get to see who the (they) are behind the curtain.

you and I know there is a curtain up.... evidently the majority of the lemmings do not.

Yes, the burglars are the worst component.

But people recoiling when the common sense, "Maybe you should have taken any measures at all to prevent that one?" questions are asked shouldn't be a thing.

I hate the fucking idiots who did this out of sheer ignorance and only watching Faux Snooze,. I hate even more the traitors who did this knowing it puts Putin in charge, knowing the tariffs will destroy us economically, but not caring because they will get lower taxes and pay lower wages and that's all they care about - hurt everyone because it helps them and it's fun hurting women and minorities - the other!

My repug best friend called wondering why I was so upset after I left a message cancelling our usual Friday lunch. I couldn't return her call because I was too full of rage - still am. I love her, we've been friends for 25 years and she's a real standup person, so smart in everything but this. She was telling me last summer that she knew that tcf was a traitor and had sold all our national secrets, then turns around and votes for him over a black woman - I just can't! My counselor said to just give it time to process in my head/heart. We usually never talk politics because we know we disagree and it's ok - usually. But her action of voting for the R this time hurt others, including me and my family, so don;t know what I'm going to do. I have hardly any friends left here, they've all passed or moved away, so I really hate to lose her, we've been important parts of each others' life for so long. It's breaking me.

are that f*cking stupid that they didn't even understand / believe the facts of his depravity.

#2 is REALLY hard to deal with. I've never really subscribed to "you can't fix stupid" - but it isn't easy.

I started to write about #1, but no. I would get alerted for "right wing talking points" or something. The gist is that there are some issues that are BIG for many people, but the Democratic party hasn't figured out - or doesn't want to figure out - an effective way to address people's concerns, in a way that is seen and believed. I know very well that Biden did some good stuff in these areas, and I told people when I could. But the overall outreach was not good.

Personally I don't think policy would ever justify voting for someone as awful as Trump. I try to put the shoe on the other foot - if we had a Trump-like person on our side, and the opponent was someone like Mike Pence - what would I do? Well first of all, a Trump-like person would never be nominated by Democrats - I heartily believe this! - so this is really a thought experiment only. And I guess I can't say at DU that I wouldn't vote for the Dem if this happened? But I think most of us here would have the same answer I would, and I will leave it at that.
