Dear very concerned pundit, youtuber, and late night comedic host that think I should rethink things. Please shut up.
I am not infected by a woke mind virus. I really spend zero time worried about woke. It's you that are crying about woke all the time. Not me. I still don't even know what the fuck you mean by woke. Everything that hurts your feels is woke, woke, woke. Fucking buckle up and deal with it. Leave me out of your woke problems.
I'm not suddenly going to abandon the working class. Certainly Joe Fucking Biden didnt. If the middle class abandoned him, well fuck, I won't decide suddenly union's suck and workers rights aren't important.
Hey, I get it, people feel the economy isnt good. Too bad, it is. They will just have to fucking figure that out. I'm not into feels at the moment. The economy is good, deal with it.
I'm not sorry I got an education. And you know what, I watch football, MMA and wrestling. Hey, I know how to use tools and fix cars. Fuck the idea that I stereotype working class people as stupid. You fucks stereotype the college educated all the time. And if you do stupid shit, wear it. Don't get the feels when I call you out on it.
And here's another fucking thing. Most liberals go to fucking church, believe in a God and the most religious president of my lifetime is Jimmy Fucking Carter. It sure the fuck isn't Trump. You guys deal with that.
And immigrants made America. I won't fear them. There is no America without immigrants. Period. So get over it.
I'm not about to try to get in touch with America and find my lost patriotism. I never lost touch. I'm a fucking American. Bernie Sanders, AOC, the transgendered prisoner, theyre all Americans. Fuck your feelings and deal with that fact for once.
So I'm not changing. I told you Trump would suck as president and he did. I told you Joe Biden would do a good job and he did. I was right. You were wrong. Fuck off.

(53,188 posts)I'm not soul searching. I didn't do anything wrong. I don't owe any group any respect that I don't already give them.
The only change I will make next time is to remember that there are plenty of racists and sexists in the groups we think of as Democratically aligned. They have shown us twice now that they won't vote for a woman. And Obama was one in a million, so they're unlikely to vote for another person of color. I have total disrespect for their position, but I understand I need to capitulate to it if we are to avoid another republican president at a time when republicans have gone batshit, so I will only support straight, white, protestant, middle-aged men.

(3,439 posts)So many people here who dispute this point.
You can look at the numbers: Trump didn't win because massively more of his idiots voted. He won because there's apparently about 10 or 12 percent of people who will automatically vote Democratic at the top of the ticket, but only if the top of the ticket is a straight white male.

(2,399 posts)I'm white, older, male. I thought Kamala was a great candidate and supported her without question.
Obviously I've been living in a bubble as have many of us here.
I got up , dusted myself off , had a good nights sleep , and entered back into the fray
Still woke . So fuck off . Sideways.

(3,093 posts)I live my life as I see fit. I work in mental health. I am a single mom. I have 2 masters degrees and I will get my doctorate. I am not beholden to anyone. I voted to help others. For women to have the right to choose, to see that seniors and others get healthcare, in support of immigration, in support of lgbtqia rights, mental health advocacy and other issues. I enjoy my family and friends and my hobbies. I love sports, music, books and art. I see my life and my purpose as trying to make a difference and help others. I followed my path in life to this point for a reason. I did soul searching along the way but I am at peace with where I am at. I heard a podcast talking about basically the Trump win is a backlash against the damage of Covid. Ok si President Biden did clean up and these talking heads are blaming him for me. I just can't with this bs

(9,740 posts)The election wasnt even called yet when my very liberal son texted me with all the mistakes Harris, Biden and the DNC made, etc. I love you honey but shut up. Our loss was not on us.

(28,747 posts)Kamala didn't "earn" the Gen Z vote. She had a "policing" background. Gaza, blah blah blah.
I thought Gen Z was so determined to work on the existential threat of climate change. Turns out, not so much.

(16,077 posts)Yeah, its stupid, but young people make mistakes. Im far angrier at people above the age of 40 that voted for him. They have zero excuse.

(28,747 posts)And all the lecturing, and all the "OK Boomer" comments.
No one had to drag me to the polls for my first election and no Democrat had to coerce me for my vote. I get that young voters make mistakes and have lower turnout, I do. But we were all told that they cared so much about the environment. Couldn't they turn out for that issue alone? (Or for that matter, health care. Or student loan forgiveness).

(16,077 posts)Young Baby Boomers didnt show up in the numbers expected for George McGovern, either. Everyone expected them to kick Nixon out.

(16,077 posts)It just wasnt in the numbers expected. And its not like most are die hard conservatives. By many metrics, young people are far, far, more liberal than their older counterparts. In 2016 and 2020, it was Gen X and older who voted Trump. So no generation can claim any high ground in all this.

(64,735 posts)It wasn't even close. If only young voters had voted, we'd have Harris and Democrats would hold Congress.
Yes, some young voters didn't support her, but most did.

(1,066 posts)No soul searching from me. When shit hits the fan and the new fascism starts chipping away at MAGA voters pocketbooks, healthcare and future it will engender in many of them soul searching like they never new they had the capability for. Some, will never accept the fact that their greed, racism and willful ignorance bit them in their faces.

(10,986 posts)We've done nothing wrong. The country is wounded not dead. Broken but fixable. The Dems ALWAYS step in to repair what the GOP damages. Will be the same in 2 to 4 years. 2026 should swing our way as MAGA realizes Trump's empty promises are impossible to enact.

(19,531 posts)WE are not the ones who voted for a hateful moron. WE did the right thing. The good, descent and righteous thing. WE are showing righteous indignation because the great unwashed apparently can't figure out this voting thing and once again fucked themselves. We tried to show them the way, but they're too fucking stupid and hateful to see it.
I was also raised by working class parents and learned working class stuff from my dad. Lots of "You need to know how this works" conversations as a teen. I still do working class stuff on my car and our house. And if you don't believe me, I'll introduce you to my nail gun by putting a 16d in your fucking forehead. And enjoy the run to the emergency room with snipped brake lines, mother fuckers! Yes, I know exactly where they are and I've got a heavy duty pair of wire cutters ready and waiting.

(64,735 posts)I notice that certain female leaders are being singled out for blame. Typical.
I think Kamala Harris ran an excellent campaign, on short notice. The woman was everywhere. She didn't sleep and she never looked tired. Tim Walz was right there with her. They talked about the problems facing Americans and offered solutions.
A majority of voters picked the carnival barker.

(215 posts)If it is true that more than half of Americans read below the 6th grade level, that focus groups had no idea what the word "authoritarian" meant, and there was a portion of voters who didn't know Joe Biden had dropped out of the race, it is hopeless. Add to that the various voting groups who wanted to punish the "other", whether that be those who wanted to own the libs, incels who hate women, Latinos who identify as white, Christian fanatics, white women who manifest their own jealousy of successful women, along with basic religiosity, racism and misogyny, the list goes on and on. Lastly, there are the cult members who have gone all in to deny reality. What should we have done differently or better? How are you going to reach people who think you are evil because you are a democrat?
I am not saying to give up, there needs to be an analysis of what went wrong and how to move forward. But hindsight is always 20/20. Just stop. I truly believe that until these groups suffer the consequences of what they voted for, there is no strategy that would have or will save us. Pain will hopefully break the fever or wake up some people to understand what "authoritarian" means. I'm tired of twisting myself in to a pretzel for those who insist upon destroying themselves, us, and democracy because of their ignorance and hate.
