Follow AP’s coverage of the presidential election.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Anti-abortion advocates say there is still work to be done to further restrict access to abortion when Republican Donald Trump returns to the White House next year.

They point to the federal guidance that the administration of Democratic President Joe Biden released around emergency abortions, requiring that hospitals provide them for women whose health or life is at risk, and its easing of prescribing restrictions for abortion pills that have allowed women to order the medication online with the click of a button.

“Now the work begins to dismantle the pro-abortion policies of the Biden-Harris administration,” the Susan B. Anthony List, the powerful anti-abortion lobby, said in a statement Wednesday. “President Trump’s first-term pro-life accomplishments are the baseline for his second term.”

The group declined to release details about what, specifically, they will seek to undo. But abortion rights advocates are bracing for further abortion restrictions once Trump takes office. And some women are, too, with online abortion pill orders spiking in the days after Election Day. ................

if there is a national abortion ban, including outlawing mifepristone and misoprostal. The federal law is controlling, so all those Trump-voting women who nevertheless wanted their reproductive rights protected could be in for a nasty shock.

7. States' rights come into play as long as there's no express federal law that's contrary to a state law.

That's the 10th Amendment: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Printz v. United States held that Congress could not compel state officers to execute federal law (interim provision of Brady law requiring local law enforcement to do background checks for gun purchases held unconstitutional under 10th Amendment). Here's a good explanation of how the 10th Amendment might be used following the repeal of Roe: https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/fair-weather-federalism-strategic-uses-10th-amendment

It was never about ‘saving babies’ – it was always about more government, bigger government at the expense of individual liberty.

So much for ‘let the states decide’ lie.
