I am so dissapointed with the quality of the US population

That they could elect this scum bag to be president speaks volumes about how completely ignorant the masses are. I'm 68 ans so tired of fighting. Thinking it's time to leave this shit show and find a nice quiet place to die. Costa Rica sounds like a good option as well as possibly Spain or Portugal.

Would appreciate any recommendations from any x-pat DU'ers that have already left the fold.

But I knew that already, I am scared by the misogyny, a lot more men than I thought hate women and are sick of us having rights.

If I were to travel outside the US in the next 4/years, I would wear a T-shirt or jacket that was emblazoned with some version of I DID NOT VOTE FOR HIM!

...on the part of a cabal of evil sociopaths. Dismantling the public education system has been a primary goal since the 19th century, and later applying Edward Bernays' lessons in the manipulation of populations has made it possible for them to complete the task despite some last-century setbacks. The destruction of the Fourth Estate began in earnest after too many people trusted Cronkite on that Nixon matter, and the internet has made it possible to complete that angle of their plan with barely a peep. And the result is now we have a hundred million people who are willing to vote for a raging moronic psychopath if he hates the same people they do and makes them laugh, and makes them promises that sound good no matter how unlikely those are to be fulfilled, or however tragic it would be if they were.

We will not undo a project of generations in an election cycle. We may not be able to undo it at all. The historical cure for tyranny, the popular rebellion, may also be short-circuited by a new world full of shiny playthings, stimulating sound bites, and just enough fear to keep everyone in line. We are watching history. And as much fun as it might be to watch movies about inspiring moments in the sweep of history, it was rarely much fun to live through them.

I've been watching romcoms and anything I can to uplift my sagging spirits. I am becoming very depressed and it is in no way normal for me. I've been every ones rock for so long and I just don't feel like I can put on my Pollyanna act and say it's going to work itself out or be in anyway "alright".

I'm hiding my depression and disappointment from family, but I feel like I have to get out of dodge to a place where the majority of people don't focus on how to hate their neighbors if they're black/brown/yellow/Muslim/etc...

I feel like I'm drowning and there's no boat or life preserver in sight.

And that the CONVICTED FELON appoints SUPREME COURT JUSTICES — a criminal installing judges in the highest court in the land. UNBELIEVABLE. And utterly, downright SICKENING.
