It was propaganda 24/7

Last edited Sat Nov 9, 2024, 11:10 PM - Edit history (1)

It wasn’t Joe.
It wasn’t Kamala
It wasn’t the short campaign.
It wasn’t that the information wasn’t available to compare him to Kamala.
It wasn’t that more money could have changed the outcome.

It was the right-wing media terrifying their captive audience.

The economy - tanked. The border - masses insane of killers. The abortion - killing babies after they’re born. Immigrants - eating the dogs and cats.
And on and on.

How do I know this? I spent the last year in one of their facebook groups, all local people, all just regular folks who when you challenge one of their talking points? it shatters their ability to communicate, they break, they put up sick memes, they try to get you banned, because you threaten the foundation of their beliefs.

It’s emotion, way past having a discussion, thinking logically, the brain does not engage.
That criminal was their only choice - they HAD to vote for him.

Dems did not lose this election - propaganda won it.

And part of their propaganda is to vilify democrats and anyone who disagrees with them.

They indoctrinate their listeners and train them to insult and disrespect anyone with a differing viewpoint or even fact, and just call them names. Evil, socialist, whatever.

It's nearly impossible to change the mind of anyone caught in that mode of thinking.

The zombie apocalypse is real. They came and they ate people's brains.

was done by Antifa, rather than trump's own supporters. They believe no one is being denied the right to healthcare due to abortion bans. So in addition to all the fear-mongering, they have no real clue about what trump has really been doing. They can't understand why we're so upset.

Of course, those higher up know exactly what's happening but it's the little guys, the regular voters, who are so terribly uninformed.

Their absolute failure to tout Biden's accomplishments. Even on the day of the debate, he'd just successfully negotiated the release of five hostages.

There is no excuse for that not being a lead story for the next few days. A dotard doesn't complete hostage negotiations on the day of a significant event, not to mention his heavy travel schedule beforehand.

I can almost point to the CNN debate in June as the beginning of the “fix” being in. Yes Joe was sick but he looked honestly overwhelmed by the fact that neither moderator even put up a speed bump against the torrent of lies. He probably couldn’t effing believe that there was no pushback and his mind was literally stammering with incredulity. And there was no significant fact checking for the rest of the campaign ... The right’s propaganda went unanswered and we couldn’t overcome it.

from Machias, ME., to San Diego, CA., from Everett, WA., to Key West, FL., broadcasts nothing but violent Reich-wing claptrap and Sports Talk...and with most Sports Talk radio, you can't tell the difference from Reich-wing claptrap.

It's a small sample size, but two people I've known most of my life are perfect examples.

My brother was a life-long, blue collar Democrat. A couple decades ago, he began driving a delivery truck. He spent upwards of 8 hours a day on the road.

My brother in law builds pools in multiple midwest states. His work requires him to drive hours and hours each day. He never cared about politics and was mostly liberal in his thinking.

They've both become raving right-wing loons.

Every FUCKING conversation with my brother in law these days, he spews stupid shit about illegal immigrants being given homes, cars, and welfare.

BTW - I ask again; WHY THE FUCK IS ANY DEMOCRAT, LIBERAL, OR PROGRESSIVE ON FUCKING "XHITLER"??????????

This isn't left right. It is insane brainwashing vs. reality.

I lost my mother in law to it.

It is heartbreaking and I don't think we're talking about it as the human, and social problem it is. We just return hate with hate and thereby alienate further.

If the economy is so bad, why are people buying so much stuff? They never think about that. Prices are high because somebody is willing to pay it.

TV stations in America in particular the suburbs and red states have been purchased by right leaning groups pushing right leaning content.

So the entire country gets fox news lite.

But you are absolutely right. It is no longer a "partisan divide." It is a serious social problem that cannot be dismissed as "it's just politics."

23. I had the same experience on a NFL message board
Sun Nov 10, 2024, 12:48 AM
Nov 10

called Patriots Planet. They have a subforum called the "Political Playground". A sampling of the thread titles on that board: "Moonbats Gone Wild", "The War on Free Speech", "The Woke and the War Against Them", "Vote Fraud Watch", "The Biden Crime Syndicate", "The January 6th Show", "Globalist Agenda: Where the Elites are Taking Us and Why", "DBV - Death by Vaccination", "Soros is the Enemy", "The Mindset of a Communist".

I joined the message board when the Tom Brady era started and winning was new and checked in over time because I moved away from Boston and still followed the sports teams. The people in that political subforum have been right leaning for years, but it was interesting to see their posts as things circulated on the right wing webosphere and to see how they "think".

Over the years I saw outraged threads about how liberal universities are going to falsely accuse your sons of rape, about how there were actually more Irish slaves in America than Africans, but they don't complain about it, how Massachusetts needs to join a compact so that people who are approved to carry guns in other states can concealed carry in Mass.

The people there are easy sport and for years I enjoyed being one of the few liberal people who would take them on. But, this year it became too much. There were endless vicious memes against trans people. When Dump talked about immigrants eating dogs & cats in the debate, I knew what he was referring to because I'd seen many dozens of memes of Trump carrying dogs/cats/geese under his arms while being chased by hordes of black zombies.

As the OP described, when you challenge them, many of them explode into calling you a Communist and ranting about the "woke agenda."

I'm done with this site, but it did give me more insight than I otherwise would have had into how limited and irretrievably lost many of these people seem to be. It's all about the media they consume, which continuously reinforces their views and stokes their outrage. It dumbs them down to knowing few facts, while at the same time leaving them with the belief that they're knowledgeable.

I don't think trump would have been possible without the media de-evolution that began with Limbaugh and Fox and has accelerated with the internet/social media. Now, Elon Musk will be a part of the administration for a full propaganda onslaught. All authoritarian governments have relied on manipulating the media and these morons eat it up while referring to actual fact checked journalism as "fake news".
