Yeah, that didn't exactly work out the way we planned.

It will take some time to deconstruct this election, but it may turn out that the single, biggest mistake we made was hyper-focusing on Trump at the expense of getting our message across to voters. Everyone already knew what and who he was, the never-ending claims to the contrary notwithstanding, and beating people over the head with it for the 4,000th time probably accomplished next to nothing.

In hindsight, we probably should have ignored him and focused solely on issues. Harris was at her best when voicing her vision for the future of the country and telling voters what she and Democrats could do for them. Voters want to vote *for* someone and not just against someone else.

2. They certainly didn't mind voting against Harris and immigrants

I think it is what you motivate them to vote against.

Political philosophy? Not going to do it.

The threat of violence and shrinking pocketbooks? Yeah. What might have helped would have been hammering tariffs as a tax on regular people and a primary cause of economic disaster and war.

That said, I don't know if it would have been enough to counter various prejudices buried so deeply many of us don't even recognize them.
