What happened to all that enthusiasm at Kamala's rallies and elsewhere, and exact opposite and waning on tsf's side, that translated into a popular vote win for him?

(29,757 posts)not as much as she in relation to Biden

(34,743 posts)Biden got 81 million. Last I looked, Harris is at 70 million. I don't understand this?

(28,833 posts)That enthusiasm doesn't really mean anything in the big picture because it's expected in that environment.
As someone recently said (the source escapes my mind at the moment), it's the quiet voters who drive the election. Only a tiny percentage of voters ever attend a rally.

(12,763 posts)The people that are already enthusiastic attend. But it doesn't move the needle much with the rest. And, yes - the appearance presented was certainly of one base being much more engaged, active and enthused. I'm also willing to grant that by all accounts Harris had a much superior ground game ... But in the end .. it turned out that those both added up to appearance. And what matters is who is filling out and returning a ballot.

(30,774 posts)that ballot is actually counted or even counted exactly the
way you actually filled it out.
I have questions about all three.
Did the creation of extremely long lines cause people
to not vote?
Did multiple bomb threats shut down polling sites before
people had a chance to vote?
Did all mail ins make it through and get counted accurately?
Did purges work?
Did ballot scans flip or erase votes?
Did voter intimidation work?
Notwithstanding the incessant propagandaand misinformation driven
across all media platforms..
So yes, this was a very dirty election which also appealed to the
worst instincts in very angry, hate- driven people.

(10,866 posts)Why can't we get legislation aimed solely at eliminating long lines through?? Legislation like this:
https://www.the-independent.com/news/world/americas/us-politics/long-lines-voter-suppression-b1868825.html
It seems this is an issue of pride.
An issue of basic American principle and fairness.
How can one American -- I don't give a shit who they vote for -- believe it is ok for anyone else to stand in a line for hours to vote?
I for one want to see a big push on legislation against "elections on the cheap" that mandate sufficient resources to eliminate wait times.

Not to mention all those threats to blue areas.

I was excited about Harris/Walz rallies that I saw on TV. Thought it would translate to votes.

(3,557 posts)But now wonder how many of them didnt actually turn out to vote. How many were there just to see the super star in person. It may have been a small amount but every vote counts. It sounds like there were a lot of reasons that may have contributed to the vote and each one changed the outcome by a little bit.

Up from 62% in 2020.

(54,133 posts)Even if you think "cult" is too strong a word, the Republican Party is at least very tribalistic, they value loyalty over anything else, and they're largely convinced the Democratic Party is evil because that's what they keep allowing themselves to hear and read.
So many people here wouldn't wear a trump hat this time, would agree with any democrat that it's a disgrace he's even running, but I'm pretty damn sure they voted for him anyway.

(2,791 posts)To many voters on the Dem side just don't bother to vote.
They may claim to care, but can't be bothered to do the one thing which would have made a difference.
I know our tent is bigger, but it still comes out to the same thing. We have more registered voters, but we just can't seem to drive the turn out like the Pukes do.
I'm so angry! With all the high stakes this time, and yet a big chunk of our voters just chose not to. Either that, or some kind of massive and slick hack was successfully pulled off.
I can't remember if I saw it in an article or if I heard it on a podcast, but the number that was quoted was either 31 percent or 37 percent of eligible democratic voters actually made the effort to stave off this complete disaster.
If that's true, then the majority of Dem voters chose not to vote.
I just don't understand why people don't get it.
Are people making their bets that we will overturn this at the midterm in 2026? What guarantee do we have that we will have any election at all in 2026, or if we do have them, that they will be free and fair.
I think that the people who couldn't be bothered or who withheld their vote in a snit, have handed our country over to the dictatorship of Vladimir Putin, with tRump as his puppet. And when tRump kicks the bucket, then the presidency for life of Shady Vance or some other Putin puppet will be next.

(2,791 posts)I tried Googling to see if I could figure out what percentage of eligible democratic registered voters actually voted, but I what came up was confusing, and seemed to put the result to primarily Latino voters
Another result said that white women had voted in larger numbers for tRump than for Harris.
So, if these results have any accuracy, then the main driver of the election results is:
1. Sexism - first and foremost. We did manage to elect a Black MALE president, twice!
2. Rascism - I guess that the white women who voted for this disaster are both racist and complete fools, who bought into the propaganda that all them scary illegal aliens were coming here to rape them.
And, the piece de resistance: the threats of rape and violence come from American men - MAGATS and incels.
Well, I hope they feel all safe and cuddly now that they are being told that women are property (!) like cars, SLAVES, and animals.
Ye gods.
And , I hope the Latinos who voted for tRump enjoy being rounded up, put in camps and deported. It will probably even happen to people who are legitimate US citizens.

Additionally I wonder why we didn't see a lot of news reports about absentee ballots because we saw plenty of them in the past about mail boxes being vandalized and whole bags of mail being tossed on the sides of the highway etc.
