Americans listened to everything Trump said over the last two years. They heard him talk about abandoning Ukraine, imposing massive tariffs, putting RFK Jr. in charge of healthcare policy, and rounding up millions of immigrants and either deporting them or putting them into camps.
A majority of voters affirmatively chose those policies.
So let Trump implement them. Lets walk through what that would mean, one policy at a time....
You really have to go there to read it all
and please don't "but people will suffer" me. People are GOING to suffer no matter what. Just let them live what they voted for, and maybe the country will see that party for what it is.

(15,815 posts)If he can be disrupted in any way, then we should do it. The ones who voted against him and the vulnerable among us dont deserve our inaction.

(583 posts)Of course you keep trying to disrupt these monsters. He will be a dictator though so unlikely to be effective. Law and order is over.

(583 posts)Sorry farmers and factory workers. You are about to get royally shafted by tariffs and mass deportation. The same thing happened when he did this to you only a few short years ago. You refused to learn the lesson because Democrats bailed you out.
I grew up as child farm labor. Those children will not be available until the abortion bans flourish more.
Maybe Elon can implant chips in those kids to make them grow up faster to fill the labor pool.

(54,133 posts)Yes in the sense that we can only stop or slow down a few of there efforts. Especially if they won the house, as seems likely, they will mostly be able to do what they want.
No in the sense that we have to find a way to cut through their propaganda machine to reach undecided, low-information, centrists, and even right-leaning people. Because if we don't find a way, their machine will find a way to excuse anything and/or blame democrats or liberals or Muslims or Jews or trans people or immigrants or whatever for anything problem.
Or they'll just deny the problem exists, or they'll invent a bigger problem to blame in others. Propaganda w"can be very effective. We have to find a way to cut through that.

(5,683 posts)Despite how everyone feels about this line of thinking, I don't believe it matters. We don't really have any political power to extend that can block them.
It will play out as you describe whether we like it or not.
The best we can do is be the two cranks sitting in the balcony on the muppet show and just try to make sure people notice.
We are little more that spectators at this point.
But to your larger point, I actually feel that way too. I have always said to libertarians or chaos agents that they are lucky that they don't live in the world that they envision. Well, now they will and I suspect that not too many people are going to like it much.
The problem is that this thinking envisions a world where power swings in 2-4 year increments. Unfortunately, stacking the courts, breaking the government, undoing the safety net, fucking the climate, destroying the regulatory system, etc. is not a 2-4 year problem. It could take decades to even get back to where we are even if we are able to win future elections.

(824 posts)how was I doing yesterday. I said I fought the good fight, I completed the race and I kept the faith. Thank you Gwen Walz! Their mouths dropped open and crickets. That is what I will say to each of them from now on. No more trying to educate and change minds.
I have long been a prepper - hurricanes. I am slowly rebuilding my prepper pantry with things like canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, ketchup, etc. Adding to the canned fruits and vegetables, too. Picked up 5 pounds of rice and stocking dried beans. Cornmeal. Flour and coffee. I prep by adding an extra can of fruit or bag of rice, etc. to my weekly grocery list. A little at a time.
We are also putting our financial house in order and getting ready to sell our home. Sitting on a butt load of equity and not losing that.
I firmly believe El Paso, San Antonio and Houston will see the first round of mass deportations.
Try to do something positive for you and your family today. Hurricane Trump arrives in January. Are you prepared?

(2,298 posts)Sit back pop some popcorn and let it burn down. Financially and otherwise help those you KNOW are good Dems. No one else.
It's kind of a relief really - b/c I've been spending emotional captial on those who hate me. Nothing wrong with a little meaness if it's warranted.
