But the American people have chosen this direction, and they have done so pretty clearly. It's not a hallucination or a mistake. So being a small "d" democrat means that you have to acknowledge that and - yes, partially, conditionally, with your principles intacty, accept it.

P.S. I think you left a second it out of your headline - did you mean to say It is what it is?
