2022 versus 2024

Three grocery examples:

2022: Store granola 1.89/box (1.69 on sale), 2024 2.49/box
2022: Boneless skinless chicken breast 1.99/lb value pack 2024 2.99 (another store has it on special this week for 2.49/lb)
2022: Dollar Tree Ramen 1.00/6 pack 2024 1.25/5 pack

And
2022: People still afraid of COVID 2024 There are treatments (BUT people are still dying)

I suspect many people concentrated on what is happening right now (do I give up two hours' pay to go vote if my vote won't make a difference) versus what has happened in the past or may happen in the future.
