the election and saying things like Harris is running a flawless campaign; Harris won the debate; Harris is peaking just at the right time; etc. They were also saying how the Dem bench was awesome and the Dems have great men and women to man cabinet positions and run in 2028.
When I tuned into the cable news networks the morning of the election - I saw a lot of these talking heads giddy that it looked like this election was in the bag for the Dems.
At the same time these same talking heads were telling us about the demise of the Repug Party and the end of Tr**p and MAGA's They were saying the choice for President is clear - a felon, liar and criminal versus a model VP; with previous great credentials and young and vibrant versus and old guy tettering on dementia.
And now those same talking heads are blowing their lungs out looking for ways to find fault with the Dems and the Harris campaign and making up scenarios to explain away her loss.
Remember when they talked about this being the end of the Repug Party - the demise; they'll never recover; Tr**p sunk them. Remember how they went around the country talking of the losers like Cruz, Bobart, MTG - and how Florida and Texas are poised to become Blue States.
Well all that pre-election talk has flipped 180 degrees and it's the Dem demise and they're looking to find fault with Pelosi, Biden, Harris, etc.
Don't you think instead they should be looking to try and figure out how this criminal was able to win after he was projecting that the Dems would steal this election? Why he embraced Musk and Kennedy? How he was able to win all the swing states? How he lied and threatened his way around the country?
Something just seem off to me. I just can't accept that this election went off flawlessly and the outcome was really the will of the people.
To deal with this - I been watching less and less cable news (actually not news but opinions) and more and more Hallmark Movies and sitcoms.
I wish these talking heads would take A Closer Look!!!

(15,801 posts)Just having a gut feeling that things are off isnt enough. You need actual evidence and proof. The fact is that we were in our own little bubble, cherry picking good things that we saw and ignoring the bad signs. We dismissed polls that showed a tie with a margin of error of usually 3-4%. They turned out to be absolutely correct.

(2,159 posts)is wrong., and that is that people still believe the media. They are not to be trusted, not even the ones we consider out favorites.
Also, when faced with failure, the logical path is to analyze all of the factors that resulted in a failure. So I fully expect Democratic strategists to spend the next year scrutinizing the numbers, and the response of the actual voters. This is how a problem is corrected, it's the only way a problem can be corrected. But that will not be done in the media, don't listen to those asshats. Their primary job is to attract viewers so they can generate profit.
Remember "back in the day when media was trustworthy" ? You know, back when a certain major news organization planted explosives in a Chevy truck so they could claim in a blockbuster story that they were unsafe in a collision? Yea, it's the same media today, and the objectives are unchanged. Outrage sells for some reason, even the stuff that they exaggerate or outright lie about.

(10,120 posts)Telling us unpleasant things gets them . . . what? Because I see how DU gets when someone on MSNBC says something that is even a smidgeon untoward in regards to their sensibilities about how the world works.
Audience capture is very much a thing.
Do people honestly think a place like Meidas Touch was ever going to run videos of "This may not be going as well as hoped, and we have a lot of problems here?" It would contradict their entire business model.
Everything is awesome as a marketing strategy to those who want and need to believe such a thing works. And now they're going to 180. Trust. Are you full of fear, anxiety, and despair? Good news! These same people who were wrong - and a lot of them probably knew it - will now market to that hopelessness. Four years of doom, gloom, and why everyone else was wrong - but not you! - so they can keep making their money.
People need to turn the shit off already. It's not helpful. Course correction cannot occur if people cannot confront the simple fact they made mistakes to begin with. Usually "denialism" is a negative behavior. That hasn't changed.

Even Canadian and European news stations are running quite a bit of TFG superficial nonsense. I'm afraid corporate media has placed their profits above all else and that means fireworks, fireworks, fireworks to grab attention and sell ads.
