(3,694 posts)I wouldnt worry if you dont get full in at once. You can take your time. There are things called starter packs. Where someone makes a list of suggested people to follow. You look through them and decide if you want to follow. Or you can do search and say you want to follow Kevin Kruse. Search for Kruse and youll see some suggestions. Same thing for News, archeology, pets, you name it theres probably something. I started off searching for some of the names I saw on twitter accounts posted here.

(905 posts)I bailed on Twitter when Space Nazi bought it and have missed it.
Upon creating an account on bluesky, I found half my feed was cat pix. If pot-smoking atheists are as prevalent, I've found a new home. 😏

I have found a few people that I followed on Twitter. Takes time to build back up again, but it's SO much nicer on Bluesky.

Blueskys Stackable Approach to Moderation

Here's a partial answer, though the article from the Associated Press is not current.Bluesky, championed by Jack Dorsey, was supposed to be Twitter 2.0. Can it succeed?
By BARBARA ORTUTAY
Published 1:43 PM EST, June 6, 2023"...Blueskys approach to content moderation is similar to its approach to algorithms to decide what users see. That is, giving users a choice in what they see. The app launched with a chronological feed, meaning you see posts in the order they are posted in. Other social platforms like TikTok, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter use secretive algorithms to show you what youre more likely to be interested in. Bluesky also has custom feeds, which let users pick the algorithm that controls what they see.
Imagine you want your timeline to only be posts from your mutuals, or only posts that have cat photos, or only posts related to sports you can simply pick your feed of choice from an open marketplace, CEO Jay Graber wrote in a recent blog post. ..."
4) Are the algorithms any less likely to amplify a RW bubble? Absolutely! Users create their feeds by selecting topics individually or through what are called 'starter packs' of grouped by topic suggestions. Users are able to en masse block several users in one fell swoop using lists.

(18,165 posts)As LMSP's OP stated, BlueSky asks you to use Alt.Text when posting images; there's a really good reason for that, to do with accessibility.
Some vision impaired people used a screen reader - softwear that reads out the contents of a web page. The screen reader hits a brick wall at images that don't have a caption or some ALTernative text describing the image leaving the vision impaired person with no idea of what is pictured.
Just a PSA.
