McCormick is ahead by nearly 40,000 votes but there are about 100,000 ballots yet to be counted, many from the Philadelphia area.
It is highly likely that even if Bob Casey falls short he should be within the 0.5% margin to request a recount. Marc Elias is defending Casey.
Magats are pretty worried about having a recount, IMO. New Senators are scheduled to have orientation on Tuesday but Chuck Schumer has not invited McCormick because the race has not been concluded, is not over. That isn't stopping Magat Senators; Schmitt, Britt, and Lee who plan on getting McCormick into the building and escorting him to orientation. The question is, what will Chuck Schumer do then, will he cave?
I would really love to see a recount in Pa., wouldn't you?
Go Get em Marc.
Do not let Magats railroad McCormick into office without a fight.

(25,012 posts)but as you say, a lot of the votes come from the Philly area. I do not see Marc Elias caving, he is a bull dog, Chuck Schumer needs to hold strong and not allow McCormick into orientation.
As I said, even if Casey doesn't quite win he should definitely be in the recount range. I really would love to see the results of a recount.

(25,012 posts)that's way better than I read elsewhere. All Casey has to do is win by Fetterman margins. I knew a lot of the ballots were from Philly but the other ballots are from the Pittsburgh area, another heavy Democratic area.
Shit, Casey could win this.
For those who want to click on the link for the Senate it is at the 3 minute mark.

(17,727 posts)Let's not get our hopes up too much, only to be let down. I've done the math, and looked at what's left. Yes, the largest chunk of that 100,000 votes left is in Philly. But there are a ton of smaller counties that are quite Red.
I'm not saying it's impossible, but it's very unlikely. AP doesn't call races unless they have a really good estimate of the outcome. When was the last time they were wrong in a Senate race?

(15,135 posts)and McCormick does not pursue a recount then I will be convinced there was cheating. There is no reason for him not to request one, although he might claim it's for civility. Yeah, right.

(25,012 posts)claims there could be as many as 130,000 outstanding ballots.
This has to be pushed all the way, every ballot must be counted, we can't do another 2000 Florida fiasco.
