This is not a place of judgment. Im not gonna, like, put your stuff on blast or anything like that, or dunk on it. Thats like, genuinely not the intent here. I actually want to learn from you. I want to hear what you were thinking.
She posted some of the responses, with the caption, Im listening.

(46,726 posts)Wanting to learn and understand is always a good first step forward.
The absolute worst thing Democrats can do right now is NOT listen, NOT learn, NOT understand what went wrong. Ignoring anything to be learned and racking it all up to misogyny and racism is highest form of hubris that will lead to continued losses because you don't want to face the fact you actually don't understand something else. You've convinced yourself you understand, when you clearly don't.
My flamesuit is on, because there's a lot of people who don't want to put aside misogyny and racism and dive deeper into what else that is understandable and can be worked and improved on.

(772 posts)I wonder if AOC is familiar with Daryl Davis,
the Black man who got ~200 KKK members to discard their hoods and robes
by listening and conversing.
This reminded me of him

(2,470 posts)That the vast majority of the folks she is talking to and who are responding don't watch a minute of the excrement that flows from the man's mouth. This is what I have wondered about - are the majority of Americans even adequately exposed to the crazytown shit the man says? I now believe the answer is a resounding "no". None of those responses even tacitly acknowledge that he is crazy.

(968 posts)From what I see in the responses they view both Trump and AOC as being candidates of change and being real. That may seem funny to you but you won't win someone's vote by mocking their reasoning.
Harris was given the opportunity to break cleanly from Biden or to build on his record. I would have preferred the latter, but the fact is she hesitated and did neither. Her staff clearly prepared her for many questions very well, but the most basic thing you're gonna have to answer is are you a "change" candidate or a "keep the ship steady" candidate, and she never did.
As far as "being real", Harris had too many policy pivots and again ended up in no man's land where no one was confident where she would land on key issues like fracking, Green New Deal, arming Israel, border security, etc. If she wanted to believably pivot on something she should have made it a focus of Biden's first term.

(29,231 posts)SHE should have made it a focus of HIS Presidency? How the hell does that work?
I agree with your second paragraph, and I'm trying to figure out what you're trying to say here in your third. Are you trying to say she should have steamrolled Joe in office or merely trashed him during her campaign? Neither of those would have been well-received or helpful.
She was VERY genuine, light and inspiring if people actually looked at her.
People made the point that the majority of these people never spent any meaningful amount of time listening to Trump to see how detached from reality he was, same applies to Kamala in the inverse.
Kamala was negged relentlessly by right wing propaganda and the "liberal" media - same thing that drug down Joe, Kerry, Gore ...
This is like people blaming Hillary, she was a fine candidate, it just is that people are flat fcking stupid and fall for the negative campaigning.

(114 posts)I think and the responses seem to suggest that there are many low information voters who don't pay attention or care much about politics. When they do vote it's just based on quick overall judgements about who seems "real". This is a lot of America. Around 30% of Americans aren't motivated enough to vote in any presidential election.

(455 posts)There was tons of votes splitting I mean look at the abortion bill in Florida I got 58% to allow access to abortions but the Republicans ran the table on the actual races.
I mean when you lose Miami Dade County as Democrat it's a lot more than just racism or misogyny.
