because you don't conform to their white and born in the USA stereotype, loudly proclaim:

BUT I VOTED FOR TRUMP!

It may, or may not, slow them down.

Fanning the flames of contempt is what FOX News and Rush Limbaugh did so well. But we have forces on our side fueling outrage and contempt is the same emotion that allowed the Holocaust – based on contemptible stereotypes about Jews and other marginalized groups.

Contempt is supremely dehumanizing. RW media is dehumanizing us. Our calling then is to rehumanize ourselves and others.

Sadly, both my intelligent educated sons, good family men, loving fathers, active and loving presences in diverse communities, who have never exhibited racial prejudice, voted for Trump. They aren't evil or contemptible, but they have fallen prey to disinformation and information warfare. There are millions in that category.

I hope that the echo chamber will break down as they encounter what's ahead. Berating them or guilt-tripping them or acting superior is only going to harden their beliefs. Building bridges has a better chance of working.

Agreed. I agree with you. I am fine with attacks on Trump/Musk/Vance and the RW media. On people in general, no.
I am veering towards the Idiocracy worldview over darker ones. A civil war serves no one.

It was very heated before the election and I think it needs to be calmer. Climate change is a serious issue that requires focus and effort. Of course in this Idiocracy world it is hard to see a way forward.

I don’t think this culture of memes and videos has improved political discourse at all. It has sped up the degradation.

I do think social media and other corporations have sped up the idiocracy.

I am going to log off and drown myself in work mostly. I still pay attention but to the more useful stuff.
