General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAs a community, DU members are hurting.
The hurt manifests differently for each of us.
Some of us are silent.
Some of us are unplugged
Some of us are rage posting
Some of us are asking desperate questions
Some of us are knocking the Party
Some us are knocking pundits
And so much more
But some of us are knocking each other.
All of that is likely cathartic.
Except for the last.
We come here as a community. None of us expect to be ridiculed or told we're wrong, particularly by smug, self righteous, well meaning, mean spirited, sympathetic, empathetic, fellow travelers.
Now would be a really great time to bite tongues when disagreeing with a post. Let things go.
Now would be a really great time for verbal hugs - given and received.
Yes, I was sitting in front of a mirror when I wrote this.
I wish you peace and a good night.

(6,473 posts)This not a minor setback that can be overcome. The political system has failed and deserves to be called out for that.

(68,481 posts)Doing something is admirable. Dumping on someone for doing or saying something is not adorable.
As I understand your post, what youre doing is admirable

(897 posts)I refuse to listen to the "news". I am continuing to renovate our house. We are making our will if favor of a disabled niece.
I am knitting and quilting and sewing.
I am too old to leave the country, so I am trying to figure out a way to survive.

(5,509 posts)Feeling safe to express ourselves without being ridiculed, dismissed, etc., is what makes this a community and not merely a discussion board. I encourage everyone to remember that there are real people behind the screens and to consider whether harsh words would be uttered if we were sitting face-to-face.

(2,377 posts)Unfortunately, there are a few here that love rehashing old grievances or playing the blame game. We need to stop that shit & focus on how to unbrainwash all the voters that we have lost to Trump & get the millions who stayed home to care again.

Hugs to you, I am going to bed.

(52,460 posts)He saw the writing on the wall. I bookmarked it and many posts from July. That is when I turned off all news and politics until last week. It helped me keep my perspective. It also helped me mentally, physically and emotionally.
I have all of the posts before Biden left. It is not pretty as far as the Dems in DC go. It is a pretty disgusting picture. Donors and PACs really played an enormous role in this shit show.

(7,496 posts)There are some mean nasty people on this site. Some of them can be as smug, self-righteous, and rude as the MAGA people. I have to fight the urge to not donate on account of them.

(15,082 posts)Hypnosis by media. Stay tuned.
FWIW, I actually live in a prepper's delight. Water, Backup power unless they stop the propane trucks, and a hill on two sides to repel invaders, like Jeff Daniels did in Gettysburg.
I just came here for the scenery, not prepping for the zombie apocalypse. Plans that I was working on for years seem right now.
HATE AND RACISM ARE TAUGHT. AND REINFORCED BY MANIPULATORS.
Break the spell.
Stay tuned. Stay together.

(55,033 posts)It's as though the goal is to keep picking at the wound for as long as possible. Rather than accept this horrible loss and move on, they are prolonging our agony. I suppose it's my own fault for even reading this site. I should know what to expect.

(973 posts)Personally my emotions are all over the place. I do ok during the day but wake up every morning terrified.
Going around people is hard because living in a red state, I know most people I encounter voted for Trump.
Whenever I see someone wearing a Trump hat or shirt I honestly feel sick to my stomach.
My life wasn't perfect before November 5th. But Trump
becoming President again is going to make it a lot more
difficult. I prepared myself mentally and emotionally all year for the possibility he might win. But ever since it actually happened I've felt totally ill equipped to handle another horrific Trump administration.
Knowing I'm not alone helps. But man this sucks. 75 million Americans voted for someone they know will hurt their fellow citizens. That's definitely a lot to process.

(3,095 posts)Some people have been mean spirited lately. Be nice! Even if you disagree be nice about it!
No need to be know-it-all, smug, indignant or belittling! Reread and analyze before you post. Ask yourself is this a dig at someone? Am I uplifting or cutting down someone with my response?
Kamala is all about uplifting others. We need to follow her lead!
