Harris fundraising page says a portion of donations will be directed to recount effort

WASHINGTON - A portion of donations made to the Harris Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee authorized by the Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee and state Democratic parties, will be directed towards a recount effort, according to its fundraising page.

The move comes after former president Donald Trump officially swept all seven battleground states and earned 312 electoral votes in the 2024 presidential race, winning control of the White House. In some states Trump beat Vice President Kamala Harris by a narrow margin, including less than one percentage point in Wisconsin and less than two points in Michigan.

The fundraising page says that the “first $41,300/$15,000 from a person/multicandidate committee (“PAC”) will be allocated to the DNC. The next $3,300/$5,000 from a person/PAC will be allocated to Harris for President's Recount Account."

It doesn’t include additional details on when the recount effort will take place and who will lead the effort.

Harris officially conceded the race to Trump in a speech she gave at Howard University the day after Election Day, saying that the nation must accept the election results.

3. Futile Effort

Just like everyone here, I am disappointed in the results. But given the vastness of disparity in results, I think a recount is futile.

Unless we are saying the vastness is a result of a miscount/fraud?

I am not saying it will change the outcome, he will be installed. However, right now they think they have the popular vote. There isn't any way he does, when we finish counting all the votes the first time, I suspect we'll be much closer to his number. Then with a recount in a few key states I believe we'll see it change to Harris in the popular vote.mind you if it does, the trumpers will only believe the results from election night. Right now his followers are emboldened because they think he has a mandate, in addition to winning. Jmho

Which would make sense, since those can be won or lost by hundreds or even dozens of votes.

But, because clicks and eyeballs, they're kind of leaving that part of the story out and speculating. The funds can also be used for "other" election expenses. And given there's campaign debt, one can trace out the situation.

So this is kind of misinformation. It seems to be intentionally not telling the full story in order to give a certain impression to readers - particularly with the headline.

4. My first question: Has that been there

for weeks or months or just since the election? Building a fund for recounts well before an election is wise, but it doesn’t indicate they think any recounts are needed at this time.

12. There is still a real problem in 'spoiled' ballots and people thrown off the voter rolls.

Most states have not reported how many 'spoiled' ballots or provisional ballots were NOT counted.

Many states were 'cleaning' voter rolls like in Virginia even won a SC ruling that they were removing people from registered rolls well after the 90 day prohibition clearly in federal law.

Greg Palast worked with a group to go through the list of removed registered voters in Georgia and had the list run through Amazon records and tens of thousands came up as still actively living at their registered address.

And of course like normal if you were a minority you were 7 times more likely to have to vote provisional.

If 110 thousand votes across three states were flipped then the whole election would be flipped. I think it is well worth reviewing even is just to make sure the elections are kept fair.
