Will all 52 Republican Senators stand united with Trump?

There is no reason to believe they will not.

Democrats had hopes that a couple would stand with them on some issues, but with the present numbers, they will be of no help to Democrats. Republicans would still have the majority in the Senate.

Most anticipate that Trump will rule over them with an iron fist. Their daily existence will be one of fear if they do not go along.

If they agree to give him carte blanche on recess appointments, then we can assume that they have all surrendered to the new dictator in waiting. Although the Constitution calls for Senate confirmation, there is no evidence up to this point that they will hold true to their constitutional oath.

Biden can defuse a lot if the Epstein files and videos were released, but then maybe some Democrats might be mentioned. So better not do anything.

Based on Trump's last term, he was the most independent and had the past experience of winning reelection via a write in independent campaign after losing the primary to a far right Republican. It is hard enough to win as a write in but Alaska ruled voters had to spell her name correctly!

Susan Collins is another, but was more likely to take a position contrary to Trump when there were either not enough votes even with hers or more than enough. An important exception to that rule is that she and Murkowski were already against repealing ACA when John McCain became the deciding vote. She may also be the only Republican representing a blue state.

There are a few Republicans representing purple states, including the very right wing Ron Johnson,Wi and Ted Budd, NC. I don't know enough about Tillis, NC to say anything. We now have the other WI state, both MI states, both GA states, both NV states, both AZ states. Of these, in the next election Ossoff might be the most vulnerable for us.

Another possibility who I know very little about is Bill Cassidy, he and Collins are the only remaining Senators who voted to impeach Trump over January 6.

I also googled the 2020 Tillis race and the sad thing is the Democrat, Cunningham, had a slight lead until it became known he had an affair. It also seems he is right wing.

Looking elsewhere, Lindsey Graham had a past history of bipartisanship, but that clearly seemed to die when McCain did and he was beyond awful since. Tim Scott, was often labelled as bipartisan, but I don't remember him being so last time

Trump is a lame duck. If he is as much of a disaster as many of us think he will be, some will want to distance themselves from him.

They need to keep in mind, ETTD.

By then, some of the bad impacts will be felt, and his approval rates will drop. The smart ones will start to distance. IMO... could always be wrong.

I pray that you're right.

I just think that with Leon and the techno bros on board with Dump they will even more effectively manipulate the MAGAs through all the far right wing media they own. And of course there is AI and so much money to buy votes like they did in PA. I pray I'm wrong.

Fetterman doesn't help. Manchin must have handed him his playbook. He's already stated that he will vote for Rubio for SOS. What happened to Resist.

Trump was awful in working with congress last time around. Indeed, he often differed to congress when tackling any difficult time. I am sure the GOP senate very much plans to dictate to Trump and not the other way around. And in most sausage making this will almost certainly be the case as Trump isn't a details man.

It's quite possible the dysfunctional house and senate fight and both find themselves at odds with a disinterested white house.
