But real estate experts interviewed by Newsweek predicted that "mortgage rates are likely to rise."

Lawrence Yun, chief economist and senior vice president of research at the National Association of Realtors, told Newsweek, "In the short run, mortgage rates could rise due to less focus on budget deficit and extending and expanding tax cuts."

Chen Zhao, director for economic research at Redfin, believes Trump's immigration policies could lead to higher housing costs.

Zhao told Newsweek, "Similarly, if construction labor costs increase because there are fewer construction workers because of immigration restrictions, the cost of building a home will also increase. Whether those increases are passed on to home prices depends on market conditions. It may just be that builders build less."

the nation will fall into recession.
According to the Pew Research Center, there are 11 million undocumented immigrants in the US.

https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/07/22/what-we-know-about-unauthorized-immigrants-living-in-the-us/

If you look at the graph, you can see it peaked right around the end of the 2nd term of George W. Bush, and slowly went down through the Obama and Trump administrations, but was still over 10 million when Trump begrudgingly left office in 2021. If you want to place blame, then the real culprit in this problem is "W".
Unfortunately, these 11 million people hold millions of jobs. Without them, the economy will go into recession, and prices will rise as the goods and services their jobs provided aren't able to be produced, result in a shift in the formula of supply and demand.
Not enough supply to support the demand always drives prices up.

That photo is horrifying. Yeah, I know that making fun of his appearance is a cheap shot but that's all I got, seeing how the federal charges will be going away.
