(21,803 posts)Rubio is not a total monster, he does seem like he cares about common decency some. The other options were way worse.

(1,229 posts)it could be worse. Could be someone totally incompetent like Noem for Homeland Security. I doubt Rubio lasts too long. Middle east and Ukraine war will tear him up

(448 posts)I agree with Fetterman on this one.

That said, I wish Fetterman did it in a PM.

(44,720 posts)Just another example of how much things have changed, although even Biden received the support of more than half the repubs for around half of his initial cabinet picks, including a couple that ended up being confirmed with more than 90 votes.

(3,997 posts)I don't like the fact that Fetterman praises netinyahou and thinks Rubio is a fine pick. I'm sorry but that's what I think.

So this is "meh".

(30,106 posts)He could have picked Ted Nugent.
I was surprised he picked Rubio. I'm pretty sure he's doing it so DeSantis can appoint someone totally crazy for senator.

(12,240 posts)Remember when Obama was elected and McConnell him fuck no on everything???? Too much ass kissing by our side. In my opinion.
We should be shunning these people, not cozy up to them.
onenote
(44,720 posts)McConnell wasn't in a position to do much during Obama's first term since he was minority leader, not majority leader. It wasn't until the second half of Obama's second term, when McConnell became majority leader, that he was able to make life extremely difficult for Obama.

(16,598 posts)Desantis can appoint some true nutjob in his place.

(44,720 posts)Or, in the alternative, resign having arranges for the Lt. Gov. to appoint him. It makes sense from DeSantis' perspective. He's term limited in 2026 and if he becomes Senator now, he will be the incumbent and have a leg up in the 2026 special election and, assuming he wins, again in the 2028 election unless he decides to use his senate position as the launching pad for another presidential run.

(1,512 posts)Vivek Ramaswamy was being floated around. He called for the invasion of Mexico in a GOP debate and wants to ally with Russia, somehow, against China, again, somehow.
Rubio at least understands who our allies are and who our enemies are. He'll still implement Trump's agenda, that's the job after all, but he won't be in the one in the room advocating for abandoning NATO.
The reality is probably that he gets fired from the administration with enough time to run for the seat he's giving up in FL.

(46,397 posts)Trumps got a couple more kids. All trump has to do is have a couple more republican senators step down.

(14 posts)Fetterman has morphed into Joe Manchin. Fortunately, senate Democrats have no power, so he can't fuck things up too badly,
