getting the jobs not because of the knowledge factor but because of the kiss up factor. And why is he appointing them so early? Thank you.
Vetted?

(36,971 posts)people. These are ass kissers.

(1,394 posts)If they can answer Yes to any of those questions, they get the job.
That's why it's called "vetted"

Zeitghost
(4,557 posts)A whole team of the Trump campaign was devoted to vetting future political appointees.
I don't think you or anyone else here would use the same vetting process and criteria. But they have been vetted. Only Trump loyalists will be making the final cut.

(27,749 posts)He's just announcing who his picks will be when the time comes
As for vetting - he hasn't signed the agreements that allow things like background checks to begin. But so far - the names he's put forward were either in the previous administration or are in congress.

(25,291 posts)I guarantee that Kash Patel will have a position like head of the CIA.

(2,187 posts)But it doesn't matter, as President, Trump can simply give whoever he wants a clearance. Like he did with Kushner in his first term.
debm55
(36,971 posts)clearance was not at the top. In fact, I had a higher clearance working for the Defense Department for 2 years. I can't believe these folks know shit about anything.
Irish_Dem
(58,357 posts)Trump does not have to sign any agreements.
He is in charge and the laws and rules do not apply to him.
No one can or will challenge him.
And I assure you the people he is appointing are working on their grifting plans
as we speak.
Runningdawg
(4,622 posts)Trump points his finger and you are knighted. No need for silly questions or background checks. NO ONE 2nd guesses the dictator.
Irish_Dem
(58,357 posts)And he can make laws to protect himself if need be.
FBaggins
(27,749 posts)There's some rubbing between executive and legislative branches... but clearances are fundamentally an executive branch creation (by executive order)
Irish_Dem
(58,357 posts)The concepts of public service and the public good are foreign to him.
The rules, customs of US government, the three branches of govt are also
of no interest to him.
He is in charge, he has the power, and no one can or will stop him.
gab13by13
(25,291 posts)will be Secretary of Defense or head of the CIA.
Vetted? If they fail clearance they get the job. The King picks who he wants.

Irish_Dem
(58,357 posts)The goal is not public service nor the common good.
Or what is best for the country and American people.
The goal is be loyal to Trump/Putin/GOP/Billionaires.
And to follow orders.
Which are to weaken the US and make as much money as possible for
the rich and powerful.
Trump wants to implement these plans asap.
He intends to be the richest man in the world when he leaves the WH in four years.
He wants to get started right away.

(58,357 posts)They are not being hired to do those jobs.
They are hired to make Trump rich and powerful.
gab13by13
(25,291 posts)and he said on his pod cast that TSF wants to be the richest person in the world. If People like Bezos or Zuckerberg don't fluff him, he will take their money.

(58,357 posts)Of course a fascist uses the wealthy to come to power.
Once in power, they shake down the wealthy and want a cut of their action.
Those who don't pay up fall out of windows.
I think Putin is the richest man in the world, he has sucked out all of Russia's wealth for decades.
From their vast oil reserves and is quite active in the drug and human trafficking trade.
Probably worth about $400 billion.
Elon Musk is worth $300 Billion.
I think Trump will aim for about $500B if he can swing it.

(38,365 posts)Sadly, I'm half serious. He's that fucking power hungry. They are that anxious to get their hands on the US treasury & other assets.
The guardrails held last time, barely. We have an ace up our sleeve if Biden will use it. His oath was to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States & SCOTUS gave him new powers to do just that but I think he's too last century to do it & so did the six extremists on the court. Biden's 50+ year legacy as an outstanding statesman won't mean squat if he peacefully hands power over to Trump knowing what he's going to do. Don't ask me what he should do. I have no clue, but immunity is a pretty fucking broad term & to do nothing is a betrayal of his oath.
For the record, I was a staunch Biden defender when everyone was asking him to step aside.

(22,115 posts)A lot of governors, senators, reps and people that worked in departments. This is a far cry better than expected. I might mean Trump is checking out before he ever checks in. So far, though, his ship is being run far better than I expected. But it is early days.

(25,291 posts)what he will do with sanctuary cities and he said there will be no such thing. He will use the military, special forces or whatever it takes to round up undocumented people.
I am guessing that many of those undocumented people have guns and don't want their families split apart.
Just what Putin wants, chaos, civil war, unwashed Americans who bow to dear leader.

(36,971 posts)To run the gov't department or agency. I would want someone with knowledge of both running the place and a knowledge of the
issues involved. As a teacher for 42 years. I would vet my teachers on numerous issues.including what they would be teaching

(36,971 posts)of background vetting on knowledge of what an appointment involves. It should include the knowledge of the issues of how to run the department and knowledge of what the does. I would not want a position based on how much of a kiss ass I was. I would want the best of the best. The people he has nominated are not the best of the best.
GaYellowDawg
(4,886 posts)And he also knows that the vetting process in the Senate could be embarrassing at times. That's why he's demanding that the Senate confirm any recess appointments he makes. Of course, the Senate will never vote down one of his candidates, but he doesn't want even the limited contest that a minority Democratic Senate caucus will provide.
My guess is that Senate Republicans will allow all of his recess appointments and he'll get an entire cabinet with consent but without advice.
Redleg
(6,181 posts)It seems to me that he can't.
GaYellowDawg
(4,886 posts)But he can (and has) demanded blanket passage of recess appointments from the Senate before he's tried to make any.
And he will most likely get his way.

Until he can make recess appointments that are more suitable to his bidding.
That's why he wants the next Senate Leader to approve recess appointments without any vetting or confirmation.
