NYT: Kennedy's F.D.A.Wish List: Raw Milk, Stem Cells, Heavy Metals

NYT - (archived: https://archive.ph/Mv4MX ) Kennedy’s F.D.A.Wish List: Raw Milk, Stem Cells, Heavy Metals

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., one of President-elect Donald J. Trump’s advisers on health, is taking aim at the agency’s oversight on many fronts.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been unflinching in his attacks on the Food and Drug Administration in recent weeks, saying he wants to fire agency experts who have taken action against treatments that have sometimes harmed people or that teeter on the fringe of accepted health care practice.

How much influence Mr. Kennedy will have in President-elect Donald J. Trump’s next administration remains unclear, with some suggesting that he could act as a White House czar for policy over several federal health agencies. Mr. Trump has voiced support for Mr. Kennedy in recent weeks, saying he will let him “go wild on health.” In his acceptance speech, Mr. Trump reiterated his support for Mr. Kennedy’s involvement on health matters.

Some of Mr. Kennedy’s priorities are relatively standard, such as focusing on the health effects associated with ultraprocessed foods. Yet others threaten to undermine F.D.A. authority to rein in inappropriate medical treatments or to warn about products that can damage the public health.

A spokeswoman for Mr. Kennedy did not respond to interview requests.

1. I'd like to see stem cell therapy become more approved

I've got a torn rotator cuff and the surgical remedy will relieve the pain but reduce my mobility. I've had some docs recommend looking into stem cell therapy and have aid they have seen some amazing results. But even going to Mexico it runs tens of thousands of dollars and insurance won't touch it.

4. Have people simply memory-holed the fact that RFKjr is a radical envrionmentalist lawyer?

He's not getting anywhere near decision making, if he isn't just shut out completely. The inclusion of stem cells in this list should be the tip off. Evangelicals hate that.

RFKjr is the poster boy for "Woo to Q". He thinks government regulators have been captured by Big Whatever and are keeping True Medicine away from the people. This is a pov shared by many on DU over the years (though much less so post 2016 exodus and post covid). It's why RFKjr was recruited to run third party. They though he would appeal to democrats! It was only when they realized that he was pulling otherwise-trump voters that wanted a non-racist option that they stopped his campaign and had him full endorse trump.

6. Trump did make it public he would have nothing to do with oil.

Kennedy said Monday that Trump has promised him “control” of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture, according to a video obtained by POLITICO.

“He also has a big thing on the environment,” Trump said Wednesday of Kennedy.

“I’ll tell you what, I said: ‘That’s OK, but you can’t touch our liquid gold,’” Trump said. “He’s very strong on, you know, the pesticides and all of the different things.”

“He says, ‘We’re going to make it a healthy country.’ I said, ‘Good, Bobby, but do me one favor: Don’t touch the oil and gas. Let me handle that. I’ll handle the oil and gas.’ We’re not going to let him get involved,” Trump said.

Some of the most prominent national environmental groups earlier this year publicly disavowed Kennedy, who was running for president as an independent candidate at that time. The groups called Kennedy a “dangerous conspiracy theorist and science denier” who could pave the way for Trump to return to office.

The bolded text is best read like it's a thing said to a Joe Pesci character in a mob movie just before he gets whacked. Yeah, sure, Bobby, you're gonna be a made man.

Maybe when enough Trump voters drink raw milk and pop ivermectin, enough of them will Darwin Award themselves right out of the electorate.

Some raw milk and unproven Healthcare treatments might help raise the average iq of the electorate a bit.
