There's plenty of them around. Make China/ByteDance an offer they can't refuse. Then we start our own misinformation campaigns in 2028. This is really a solution to reaching young people next time around.

(15,083 posts)IIRC, Larry Ellison was cleared to buy TikTok U.S. operations but it didn't happen, and he's about as nice a person as Elon.
Michael Bloomberg and Mark Cuban probably aren't interested in any of the above, and all of those above have to want to sell.
Probably don't want to.
Bezos, nazi scum, could use any of them to sell his crap.

(660 posts)Have to make Musk an offer so ridiculously sweet he couldn't resist it. I don't think anyone has throw away money like that.
He never bought it as an investment. He bought it as a power play and to stop censorship of speech he didn't like. He's always been willing to take a loss on that as part of that power play and he's perfectly fine with it. I don't think anyone can offer a price with that mindset. He has FU money like few have.

(5,843 posts)Tiktok is believed to have backdoors that allow the administrators, and presumably the Chinese government, broad access to user data. Aggregated, that is a powerful tool that they won't relinquish.
